LOCAL MEMBERS ATTEND CURLING MEETING Five members from the Terrace Bay Ladies Curling Club, Ida Romanuk, president of the Northwestern Ontario Ladies Curling Association, Norma Crock- ford, secretary of that or ganization, Elsie Ostling and Sylvia Duquette, voting delegates and Jayne Coons, president of the Terrace Bay Club, journeyed to Kenora over the weekend to attend the meeting of the N.W.O.L.C.A. This meeting was of the greatest interest this year as Terrace Bay was hoping to present their resolution to all seventeen delegates present in its entirety. The resolution was subjected to an amendment deleting a very important bargain- ing point which was unacceptable to Terrace Bay. Terrace Bay, Marathon and Schreiber voted against this amendment and the proposed resolution was' de- feated by a seven to three vote. Due to train schedules seven delegates did not vote. Terrace Bay Club members will will attend the THE NEWS Page 5 meeting in the Lakehead on February 9th where this matter will be brought before all representa- tives. A special word of praise goes to Marathon ladies who so ably competed in the N'western Ontario playdowns, finishing up in a five-way tie for sec- ond place. LEGION LADIES SPONSOR MARCH OF DIMES ~ Mrs.Lorette Solly chaired a general meeting Sun- day evening of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Royal Can.Legion, Br.223 in the Legion hall, with 18 members present. Minutes and correspondence were given by Mrs.Jean Fisher and Mrs.Stella Gusul gave the financial report. Mrs. Jack Little was installed as a new member and members enjoyed an exchange of gifts. Mrs. B.Fawcett won the Pot of Gold which she donated to the Welfare Fund. Winners of the recent Home Bingo were announced. The Auxiliary will sponsor the March of Dimes here and Mrs.Jack Yates will be in charge.
