4 96 m7 HERE & THERE IN TERRACE BAY The Afternoon Group of the Ladies Auxiliary will meet on Monday, January |8, starting at 1;30 with a pot luck lunch. All ladies are welcome and re- quested to bring something to the luncheon. Any- one having! C anada Packers labels should bring them to this meeting for sorting. Sympathy is expressed to Reeve and Mrs.W.Adamo who have returned from Sault Ste.Marie where they were called after the death of her father, Mr. Paul Ciaschini on January 3. Mrs.Mary Duguid returned home to Port Arthur last week after a two week visit in Terrace Bay with Mrs. Aggie Sinkins. Vivian and Francis Hanna were the guests of Babe and Earl Knight last week as they were en- route home to Duncan, B.C. from Shawsville, Que. where they attended the funeral of her uncle Mr. Percy McCreadie of Norway Bay. Mr.McCreadie was well-known in Terrace Bay having spent his winters visiting with Vivian and Francis for many years past. Doris Lehto celebrated her tenth birthday on Saturday afternoon, inviting seven girl friends to a tcboggan party. Games and birthday supper fol- lowed at the Lehto home. The seventh birthday of Dennis Garriock was celebrated with a party Saturday afternoon when his chums joined him for play and party lunch, re- turning home with favors. Mr.and Mrs.David Towner of Guelph were home for the holiday season visiting her pa rents, Mr. and Mrs.R.Lafontaine. COMMUNITY CHURCH ANNUAL MEETING The annual congregational meeting of Terrace Bay Community Church was held on Sunday even- ing when yearly reports were presented by the various organizations within the Church. A new Constitution was adopted with minor changes and the congregation voted to increase the yearly donation to Mission work. The Board of Stewards and the Minister expressed satisfaction in the way church affairs had been con- ducted in 1964 and the Minister thanked all organ- izations for their fine efforts and the leadership given. The Women's Auxiliary showed renewed vigor, both in attendance and financially. A fund is being established by them toward the time when a Manse is built. Special note was taken of two new committees-- the Altar Guild, under the convenorship of Mrs. A.Farrow, whose task it to take care of the Com- munion Vessels and to beautify the Sanctuary and the Christian Education Committee, who gather together and oversee all Christian education work among the young people and children of the con- gregation and provide a source of help when required by the organizations of the Church. As special guests at the Curling Club's Christmas Party, Marion and Ken had also been the recipients of a painting by another local artist, Mary Mid- daugh, entitled 'Beach in Spring.' The Teen Town Christmas Party also honored their departing Direc- tor and his wife as they gave Marion a sweater and Ken a golf bag, along with their farewell wishes. Mrs. Helen Matuszak was hostess as ladies of the neighborhood joined to give Marion a crystal vase and stationery to mark the occasion. Ann and Jerry Papousek hosted a surprise dinner party of their immediate friends and on this occasion gave them a table lamp Best wishes were also extended as Recreation and Snack Bar staff joined to present Marion and Ken with an ornate brass wall clock. Sharon Bougie entertained fourteen friends on the occasion of her 7th birthday last Saturday. Games party lunch and take-home treats were enjoyed by all.
