N OPCS COMMUNITY MOURNS PASSING OF HERMAN ROBERTS services for the late Herman Roberts, age 51, who passed away suddenly October 21, were conducted Saturday after- noon at two from the Terrace Bay Commmnity Church, At the close of the hynm "Unto the Hills Do I Lift Up Mine Eyes", Rev. T. Garnett Husser described him as a pillar, ' saying "for he stood tall among us and . surely his heart was in his commmnity, his work and his home.* Praising his devotion to organizations serving the commnity, the Boy Scouts and Kiwanis, Rev. Husser felt his works would be a living memorial to this fine man. Born December 27, 1912 in Earlton, Ontario he had received his schocling in Kapuskasing. Joining the Kimberly-Clark Corporation in Kapuskasing on January 1, 1920, Mr.Roberts 'had transferred to their Terrace Bay Mill May 17, 1948. Starting here as a Mechanical - Foreman he became Trades Supervisor November | 5, 1950, working in that capacity until his ' demise. He served as a gunner in the Armour- _ ed Corps from 1944 to 1946. J.K.Knights of Fort William, Kay, Mrs. J. Stevenson of Kapuskasing and Marge, Mrs. A. _ Andrews of Kapuskasing and a brother, Edward of Guelph. He was predeceased by a son . GOSPEL MISSION ~ Mr. Ron Sheffield - 11.00 A.M. - Family Hour - 7.00 P.M, --- Gospel Bible Hour - 7.00 P.M. - Prayer Meeting Arriving for the burial service were Mrs. J.K.Knights of Fort William, her son Jim Knights of Little Long Rapids, Mr.and Mrs. J.Stevenson and Mr.and Mrs. A.Andrews of Kapuskasing, Mr.Edward Roberts of Guelph, Mr.and Mrs. John Freeman of Red Rock and Mr.and Mrs. Simon Cournoyer and Jeanette from Ansonville. A very active member of the Scout Move- ment, Mr.Roberts had this year received his thirty-five year service bar. In 1942 he had also been recognized with a model pre- sented in Kapuskasing for special services to the Scout Group. Working in Terrace Bay first as a Scout Master, he later became a charter member of the Boy Scout Group Committee, working in almost every capacity. As a Past President, he had been called on to become Acting Chairman this year and was also Camp Chairman, a project he had fostered through from its inception, at White Sand Lake. He was also a member of Terrace Bay Lodge AF & AM 662 for the past fourteen years. Another phase of his intense activity was with the Terrace Bay Kiwanis Club. One of the oldest members, he was currently Presi- dent of the local Club, having held many officers prior to this year. Pallbearers were Ted Brown, Bill Farrell, Don Boudreau, Jim Hale, Scouters Alphonse Theriault and Paul Maleshewski and leading ... into the Cemetery a guard of honor and Scouts. and Scouters paid their final tribute to one, of their staunchest supporters. , A Masonic Service was conducted in the Terrace Bay Community Church on Friday even- ing. .
