UNITED NATIONS TOUR STOP-OVER MADE HERE The bus load of young people on the United Nations Tour, sponsored by the 1.0.O0.F. and Rebekah Lodges were entertained at a turkey dinner in St.Andrew's United C hurch Hall following Divine Services on Sunday morning. The group were escorted to the various churches when the bus was met, with Mrs.J.D.Bryson of the Public School Board offering the school facilities for dressing rooms. Hollis S.Rice, pastor of th e First Congregational ~ Church in Plummer, Idaho, was tour director, assist- ed by Miss Freda Allcock of Calgary and Mrs.Laura Freshwater of Vancouver. David White of Spokane was driving the bus for the twelfth year, this being his third trip across Canada, th e others through the United States. Reeve Fred Harness was master of ceremonies for the occasion, introducing those at the head table. Grace was said by Rev. F.Muldrew. The members of the tour each gave a brief sketch of themselves and their home town, after which Mr. Harness added his name as Reeve of Schreiber--with a population of 2,100 but a welcome for a million! A formal welcome from the Lodges was given by Noble Grands Mrs. Jessie McCanna and Russell Skinner. District Deputy John Dejénghe gave a brief address, based on the Ten Commandments. Tribute was paid to Bob Jones, Chairman of the committee for the occasion and those working at and for the dinner . Ken Renneberg of Abbotsford, B.C., conveyed the sincete thanks of the group to everyone for the hos- pitality enjoyed. BRIDE-ELECT HONORED Miss Maureen Morrill, whose marriage takes place here next month, was honored by a staff party of the Spadoni office employees. Miss Morrill has been em- ployed for eleven years with Spadoni Company and was presented with a personal gift and her fellow workers'.good wishes. Miss Jaunita Stewart of Pt.Arthur spent the weekend with Mr.and Mrs. Hugh Stewart. Mrs .D .Costa has returned from Toronto where she visited with Mr.and Mrs.Nino Commisso and her new Grandson . Miss Joanne Carlisle and Mrs.A.Wood of Pt.Arthur are the guests of Mr.and Mrs.Jack Winters. Miss Clarence Lyttle of Renfrew has been visiting Mrs .Bill Holland. Pat Guina brought his nephew Vincent Muller, home with him from Saskatoon for a holiday here. Tom Arnot of London, Ontario is a visitor in town. CAROL JACOBSON FETED AT BRIDAL SHOWER Miss Carol Jacobson, bride-elect of this week, was fet4d by her friends at-a kitchen shower held in the home of Miss Cathy O'Brien, with Miss Carole Lalonde as assistant hostess. In addition to the fifteen young friends gathered were Mrs. Reginald Inshaw, mother of Carol's fiance, and her sister, Mrs. A.Johnson of Terrace Bay, Mrs .Robert Nelson of Winnipeg is th e.guest of Mr .and Mrs. Russell Skinner. Mr .and Mrs. D ennis Craig and son Jeffrey of Port Arthur, are visiting at the home of Mr.and Mrs .Bob Gray. Miss Dorothy Arnot and Miss Ruth Sheldrick of Toronto are here vacationing. Mr .and Mrs.Oscar Laine are driving to various points in the States for their vacation. Mrs.Henry Pinion drove her family and h er father, Ben May of Terrace Bay, to visit relations in Timmins. Mr .and Mrs. S.C.Thomas of Toronto are here to attend the Ilmshaw - Jacobson wedding. Mr .and Mrs.Doug Murray, Sandra, Heather, Linda and George Douglas of Winnipeg are visiting Mr .and Mrs.George Duncan. F.O. B.H.Wraith, Mrs.Wraith and their family of Moncton, N.B. were recent visitors with Mr .and Mrs. Jack Noonan. Mr .and Mrs .Cosimo Figliomeni and sons Mich ael Paul, Frankie and Mark, of Toledo, Ohio, are holidaying with Mr.and Mrs.Fr ank Figliomeni. Miss Mary Lou Gollat of Fort William is camping at Walker Lake with Mrs.Frank Boon and family. Mr .and Mrs.Gus Krause held a family dinner at their Terrace Bay camp in honor of Mr.and Mrs. Ernie Krause, here from Mine Centre for a visit. Mrs. J.A.Maclsaac, camping at Walker Lake, has received word that she is to be "Queen for a Day" at Memory Lodge, on the weekend of h er choice. Accompanying the happy news was a dozen red roses. LIBRARY RENOVATIONS COMPLETED The renovations in the Public Library completed, it is now re-opened at the usual hours. The following new books are now 'n the sh elves: the New Oxford Dictionary, Daredevils of Nigeria, Career Books, Junkie Priest, Heroshima Pilot, Confessions of St.Augustine, Dr. Seuss, Person Ph enomenon, Rail:road Stories, Atlantic Crossing Before Columbus.
