The July 2, 1964 L.A. TO CAN. LEGION HOLD FATHER'S DAY TEA A novel Father's Day Tea was held by the Ladies Auxiliary to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 223 Thursday evening, when Legionnaires were the honored guests, presiding at the tea trays. Pouring tea were: Bill Baillie, Howard Solly, Paul Coupal, Frank Ginn, Jack Yates, Lorne Vezina and Tony Delaronde. The tea table was dainty with an ecru lace cloth and low crystal bowl of gladiolas and carnations, flanked by tapers. President of the Auxiliary, Mrs. Doris Marcella greeted guests to the Community Church Hall with the Tea Convenor, Mrs. Alice Yates. Servitors were all daughters of Veterans, Misses Betty Yates, Mich- elle Slattery, Pamela Cumming, Linda Lawrence and Debbie Boyd. Replenishing in the kitchen were: Mesdames Jean Fisher, Polly Doniels, Dot Coupal, Lorette Solly, Aggie Spzak and Minnie Woodruff. Mrs. Dodie Bougie had charge of the Bake Table and Mrs. Stella Gusul took tickets. I PUBLIC SCHOOL STAFF HOLDS FINAL MEETING As the pupils were happily dismissed from the Terrace Bay Public School Friday morning, the teaching staff held their final meeting of the term. Over coffee and cakes, Principal Mr. W.F. Colborng presented staff gifts to Mrs. Carol Hanson and Miss Drena DeGroot, two of the teachers who will no be returning in the fall. School Board members, J. Shivas, J. Beddard, W. Hanley accompanied Chairman A. Pattison, who on behalf of the Board, presented Mr. and Mrs. Colborn with a beautiful oil painting, a local scene by Sadie Gaulin. Mr. Pattison expressed the appreciation of the Board to both Mr. and Mrs. Colborne for the high standards they have held in the six years they spent on the staff. Feeling it a real pleasure to have been associated with them, he wished them wel in their new home in Port Arthur, and to Mr. Colborne on the staff of the Gron Morgan School . Thanking the School Board, Mr. Colborne said both he arid his wife had enjoyed their years here and would always consider it a second home, returning as often as possible. SCHREIBER SOCIAL NEWS Before she left for a new home in Fort William Mrs. Alfredo Spadoni was honored by her friends at a party in the Guild Hall. On their behalf Mrs. Sam Maronese presented a pole lamp and purse to Mrs. Spadoni with the group's good wishes. Jim McCudig of Toronto is here to spend the summer with his grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Lester McCuaig. Miss Cynthia Bond of Fort William is the guest of Miss Lorraine Nesbitt. | Visiting with the various Nesbitt families are Mr. and Mrs. Tom Sullivan and Tom Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wiesensel, with Anne and Michael, all of New York City. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Whent have returned from a short holdiay in Toronto where Mrs. Whent attended the Rebekah Assembly . Mr. and Mrs. Bill Stefurak and family are holiday~ ing in Southern Ontario. A gratifying amount was realized by the Women's Institute Penny Auction with Mrs. Mary Jarva winning the blanket and Mrs. T. Bolan the door prize. John Needham is spending the summer on a farm in Saskatchewan, in preparation for the course he intends taking at the Agriculture College. Mr. and Mrs. J. Stitt of Renfrew are visiting Mr. and Mrs. John Stitt. Patricia McParland is in the office at Chapples for the summer . Shiela Weaver is visiting Mr. and Mrs. Joe Harris in Chapleau. Mr. and Mrs. Del Weberg have moved to Terrace. In procession the Explorers were led by the Can- adian Girls In Training and their leaders, Mrs. B. Whent and Mrs. K. Getlert , into the Sanctuary of St. Andrew's United Church for their graduation into the C.G.1.T. Sharon Smith, Chief explorer, led the congregation in worship and Linda Pitkanen and Judy Richardson read the Scripture and Prayer. Mrs. M. Gander conducted the Graduation cere- mony with Nancy Spillane responding for the CG4T.. ; Cerfificates were presented by Mrs. N. Fummerton to S. Smith, C. Pike, B. Weaver, L. Pitkanen, and J. Richardson. These five also received their "E" achievement pi to be worn on their C.G.1.T. uniforms . The pins signify that the girls have earned six stars. Mrs. Whent gave the formal welcome into the C.G.1.T. Rev. Muldrew addressed the girls. Ushers for the service were Monica Frommann and Janet Hamilton with Elizabeth Crawley giving the programs . Following the services coffee and desert was served in the Church Hall, with Mrs. R. Macadam and Mrs. M. Smith presiding at the tea table, and Mrs. F. Fisher replenishing. Dur ing the evening the Explorers sang some of their favourite songs, accompanied by Mrs. C. Pike
