HOCKEY COACHES* LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE Once again the Canadian Amateur dockey Association, supported by the Dept. of Health will offer Coaching Clinics to people interes- ted in hockey coaching, The Institute will be held at the University of Saskatchewan from August 23rd to 30th. All expenses are covered by the C.A.H.A. Ten delegates will be chosen from the Thunder Bay area, and applications must be in by June 30th. AWARDS PRESENTED AT BOWLING BANQUET The 1963-64 Bowling season wound up for Terrace Bay Keglers Saturday evening with a banquet and dance in the Moose Hall. Master of Ceremonies C. Buck welcomed those present and Grace was pronounced by Rev. T.G. Husser. The Toast to the Queen was proposed before guests at the Head table were introduced. Concluding dinner, the Master of Ceremonies called on various representatives to make the many awards of trophies and prizes. Chairman L. Edmonds awarded the Ladies five pin League trophies to: Hi Average, Hi Single and di triple to D. Billings, Hi single with handicap to L. Hopper and Hi triple w/hcp. to M. Edmond In the mixed five pin League President B. Moon awarded trophies to C. Buck Ments Hi average, M. Edmonds Ladies Hi single and Hi single w/hcp, L. Edmonds Men's Hi single, Hi single w/hcp and ii triple,P. Buck, Ladies Hi triple w/hcp, and L. St. Louis Ments Hi triple | w/hcp. The Waghorn Pharmacy Trophy presented by L. Waghorn went to P. Buck for the Ladies Hi Triple. Recreation Director Ken Ward made the award of the Mrs. Cola Parker Trophy to D. Billings as the Ladies Hi Average in any leagug The Ladies Ten Pin League trophies were pre sented by C. Buck, Vice President and went to P, Kelty Hi Average, F. Knight ii triple and Hi triple w/hep, and E, Beddard Hi single w/hc Mr. T. Costa awarded the Costa's Foodmaster Award to E, Ostling, Hi single in the Ladies Ten Pin League. The Bowling Association Trophy to the "Bright Lights" - roll-off winners in Mixed five Pin. Captained by K. Kitchen. members were S, Kitchen, M. and L. Edmonds, K. and Ken MacLeod and S. Sadowick The John Labatt Trophy to roll-off winner of the Ladies Ten Pin League with captain I. Pattison were V. Gresdal, E. Beddard, 8. Pytcyck, J. Hopper and R. Kenney. The Fort William Coal Dock Trophy went to roll-off winner for the Ments Ten Pin League - captained by H. Cooke. Teammates were:- E. Boucher, A, Littlefield, M. Sitko, L. Swirhun and E. St. Louis. . Last of the Roll-off winners was the "Billy Goats" in the Ments Five Pin League. Receiving the Food Service Management Trophy was Capt. B. Moon with T. Stashiw, P. Cebraridq E. Chicoine and H. Cooke. . The new Carling Trophy was won by the Terrace Bay team in Marathon. The Labatts Trophy for the first Invita- tional Tournament held in Terrace Bay had also gone to a Terrace Bay team. The M.C. continued the presentations with awarding Assoc. trophies to Series Winners:-- "The Twisters", in the Ladies Five Pin League; "Bright Lights" in the Mixed Five Pin League; "Stompers"' in the Lddtes Ten Pin Leaguey "Chops", in the Men's Ten, and "Screwballs" in the Ments Five Pin League. Consolation winners also received Bowling Association Trophies. In the Ladies Five Pin League a team captained by P. Kelty were winn ners. One captained by L. St. Louis won the Mixed Five Pin League, J.. Schritt's team won the Ladies Ten Pin League, and V. Thompson's team won the Men's Ten Pin League. Hidden scores had been selected and prizea@ for these were awarded to E. Boyd, J. St, Louis, M. Simmer, M. Sitko, E. Chicoine and P, Cebrario. -In his remarks B. Moon was happy to report.a bigger and better Bowling season, with more Bowlers, more teams and more leagues. He introduced the incoming executive as: - President - B. Moon, Vice- Pres. - E. Knauff, Treasurer - E, Boutillier, Secretary - A, Papousek, Chairman - 5 Pin League - L. Edmonds, Chairman of the Ten Pin League still to be elected. He thanked Rec. Director K,. Ward and B. Gamble for their co- operation and wished the members another season of.good bowling. The evening continued with a Dance with music by the Rythm Kings of Manitouwadge.
