GOSPEL MISSION Sunday School at 2 P.M. every Sunday ROSSPORT UNION CHURCH 3.00 P.M. -- Church Service - first Sunday of the month DMN 7OPPs VARIETY TO BE FEATURED ON FANFARE NIGHT The members of the Band are all in a flurry, readying themselves for their annual Grand Concert, which they call, as is their custom, "Fanfare Night", This year, again, under the able leadership of their conductor, Mrs.Ellen Hodgkiss, twenty-one musicians will take up drum, cornet, clarinet, trombone and glocken- spiel, to present a varied, interesting and toe-tapping programme, In addition to band selections there will be other specialties, featuring a group pf young dancers under the capable direction of Mrs. Merkel of the Lakehead. These are bound to charm the audience with their colorful 'numbers. The Terrace Bay Men's Chorus is contribu- ting a BARBER SHOP QUARTET who will render, in their inimitable style, such rousing old- timers as "Peggy O'Neil", "Litl Liza Jane", and "You Tell Me Your Dream." The band programme will include "The Happy Wanderer" - "The Teddy Bear's Picnic" - the Spanish dance, "Malaguena" complete with Latin-American sound effects, and "Your Cheat- in? Heart" a favourite Western-type ballad. A trio of clarinet artists will present something truly different. They have prepared several chamber music selections written specially for their instruments, while else- where in the show some of the newest band graduates will be awarded their band pins. ST. SE Tas PE TI EE TS OD LACROSSE CLINIC In an effort to revive Canada's national sport, Lacrosse, the Ontario Government has sponsored lacrosse training schools across the province. One of these schools will come to Terrace Bay on May 5th and 6th. During the course, instruction will be given on coaching, refereeing and playing. We hope that we will get the support of our adult sportsmen and that lacrosse can be added to our list of many community activi- ties. SET THESE DATES ASIDE TO ATTEND.
