FOR APPOI Terrace Bay or GOLF_NEWS The Terrace Bay Golf committee are busy making preparations for an interesting and successful night on April 3 rd. The Moose Hall is reserved that night. This will be the night when golfers and all interested in the game will get together and see some wonderful championship golf movies. They will also get the low down on 1964 golf activities in Terrace Bay. A membership booth will enroll all who wish to enjoy local golf this year. A report will be made by members of the committee and the plans for election of a new committee will be made known, A report will also be made on the proposed golf school. CAMPBELL The Annual Officers Night of the Terrace Bay Community Credit Union was held Saturday evening in the Hotel. As Master of Ceremonies. Secretary Al Ziegleman, welcomed the officers and guests before introducing new members of the executive - L. St. Louis, Director and R. Beaulisu zember of the Supervisory Committee. Grace was pronounced by Mr. A. Farrow and, following dinner, the M.C. called upon retiring Manager, Mrs. D. Campbell to accept the gift of a purse and sum of money with their appreciation. Wishing her well in her new home in Toronto, he expressed the desire she should not forget the small Credit Union which she had so competently assisted to triple their assets during the past six years. Mrs. Campbell graciously accepted the Credit Union's gift and good wishes. A Minutets silence was observed in memory of a founder and departed officer, Mr. Harry Goodfellow. Speakers for the evening were the two delegates recently returned from the Ontario Credit Union League Convention in Toronto, President Mr. V. Hopper and Mr. D. Brearley. He felt Credit Unions were a big help to industry, cutting down garnishee and easing the minds of employees due to financial troubles. He said all Credit Unions belong to the League, in which they bay shares and can, in turn, borrow from the League for their own use. The League have devised a new method which will speed up leans to share Credit Unions. Describing the opening ceremonies of the Convention, delegate V. Hopper discussed the present day trend to think money instead of people. The philosophy of Credit Unions, he said, was being challenged, and they were losing the old-time dedicated person to those interested only in remuneration. He repeated some of the speech given by the Hon. F. Cass, Attorney General, stating the League had started 21 years ago with 68 Credit Unions, and now had 1487 within the Ontario League and iJ1i n assets.
