« March 12,1964 LEGION LADIES WELCOME NEW MEMBERS The March meeting of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Legion being vice-president's night, Mrs .Bill Para- dis presided. Mrs.Jane Smith and Mrs.Midline Heinrich were initiated into membership. Mrs.Paradis thanked those who had assisted at the bonspiel supper and Mrs.A.C .Rigelsford gave a de- tailed report of the kitchen cupboards and later a sick-visiting account. A bingo was planned for April 3rd and it was de- cided to present the suffleboard contest prizes at a social evening on March 17. A letter was sent to David Gunter thanking him for his assistance and Mrs.Norman McCuaig, Mrs.Len Hiller and Mrs. Mickey Didura were named as delegates to the dis- trict meeting in Geraldton on April 11th. Mrs.Neil Ross read minutes and correspondence and Mrs .Lloyd Small gave the treasurer's report. Mesdames Ken Davis, David Gunter, Jack Handel Earl Holmes, W.Hubelit and L.Ibey were named April hostesses. UNITED CHURCH WOMEN PLAN PROJECTS The United Church Women held their regular meet ing on March 4th with Mrs.T .P.Whent presiding. Mrs.J.G.Scott reported plans completed for the St. Patrick Tea on March 14 and stated that a delica- tessen counter will be the attraction this year-- offering home prepared foods in various dishes. Mrs .Forbes Macadam stated two quilts have been sold--two are ready for quilting and sewers are needed. More material has been purchased for the sewing committee. Plans for the Smorgasbord were discussed butthe date not settled. Mrs.Harvey McCanna reported cards sent to and calls made on sick people. A number of films suitable for certain programs will be ordered. Several members announced their intention of attending the annual Presbytery meeting in Pt. Arthur on March 16. Mrs.Frank Fummerton gave a reading on India and a short skit was played by Mrs.Fraser Muldrew, Mrs. Wesley Clemens and Miss Joan Neil. CATHOLIC GIRLS FORM GLEE CLUB A glee club choir of 32 voices was formed at the Catholic Girls' Club meeting on March 1, with Rev. Sister Irene accepting leadership. The Shamrock sale was planned for March 14. With the date yet to be set, a party with skating and bowling as the program, was planned with the Terrace Bay girls club as guests. Director Mrs.Shack, read an article from the Guiders' magazine on "How to be charming." Anna Fummerton presided with Linda Sisson taking the roll call. Cathie Bolan and Brenda Lalonde were wel- comed aS new members. Georgette LeBlanc read minutes and correspondence. The latter included a "thank-you" from St.John A/N for a donation to their organization. Betty Comeau, treasurer, stated the balance due on the beautiful capes purchased to use in the twice-yearly Crowning of the Virgin Mary, has been paid in full.
