- THE NEWS "MINOR HOCKEY NEWS (by E. Kettle) Last week Terrace Bay Bantams and Midgets played games against Schreiber. The Schreiber Bantams defeated Terrace Bay by the score of 6 - with Ron Stuart scoring all three goals in a losing cause. In the Midget game Terrace Bay ran rough=shod over Schreiber, defeating them 15-1. Dan Schock, Stachiw and Turner paced the team with three goals each. Bob Coates and Solly had two goals with singles going to Falzetta and Mallais. MacDonald scored the lone Schreiber goal. On Saturday of this week there will be a Midget Tournament at the local Arena, with teams from Terrace Bay, Schreiber, Marathon, Manitouwadge and Red Rock. MORE CURLING NEWS The date for Challenge Curling has been set for March 7th. Ice sheets will be open from 9 a.m. and at the odd hours until 9 p.m. All games will be 8-enders. No charge will be made to club members but non-members will be charged per game. The lounge will be open all day and a social evening will complete the entertainment. There were thirty-eight fire drills with average attendance of 12 men. The entire force numbers 13 with Chief Weaver . Among equipment asked for this year is a fan smoke disperser which would do away with opening windows and doors in event of fire, a particularly bad practice during winter . C.W.L. MEETING Mrs. W. Cocks presided at the regular meeting of Holy Angels Catholic Women's League on Feb. 9th. Father Cano spoke on the importance of re- ligious training for children, most especially during the Lenten Season. Reporting for citizenship Mrs. H.Prescott said that one member spent 1 1/2 hours filing books for the public lib rary; twenty-two had assisted with the March of Dimes and two others helped count the collection. Radio & T.V. Convenor, Mrs. W. Mullins, reported writing for a list of the movies but was unable to get one. Mrs. Joe Caccamo reported 213 paid up members in addition to honor- ary members. The League will cater at a curling banquet and a rummage sale will be held during this month. Any good clothing unsold will be sent to Father Audette, Fort Frances, for mission work. Mrs. A.Bedard 'of Port Arthur, Diocesan President, was introduced and spoke on the importance of convenors having annual reports ready in detail and sent in in time for presentation. She also discussed plans for the League Convention in May when Schreib er will be the host. Lunch was served by Mrs. Joe Caccamo's com- mittee. CHAMB ER OF COMMERCE MEETING - 8 P.M.
