This would include such projects as the construction or restoration of libraries, museum buildings, concert halls and other buildings of his- torical significance; the development or improvement of park land or other recreational facilities; the commissioning of works of art, writing of books or plays, the composition of music and paintings provided that they are not commissioned solely for celebrations; and the acquisition of or improvements to collections of historical materials directly re- lated to the history of Canada's Confederation and to Ontario's part in the building of the nation. This is an invitation to our citizens, and local organizations in particular, to take part in this project by submitting suggestions to any council member or the Municipal office not later than the end of February, 1964. Strutt, Clerk-Treasurer The Corporation of The Township of Terrace Bay SOCIAL AND PERSONAL fe Catholic Women's League will meet on Sunday, February 9th, following the Rosary in St. Martin's Roman Catholic Church at 8 P.M. Wendy McMillan had a Slumber Party Friday evening in honor of her tenth birthday. The evening was preceded with skating before the party supper and birthday cake. Lucille St. Denis had a party Saturday afternoon on the occasion of her 4th birthday. The guests played and enjoyed party cake and lunch before leaving for home with treats. Frank Sechesky, expected home this weekend from Toronto Western Hospital where he has been a patient for three weeks, is wished a speedy recovery. ¢ Jimmy Ollgn-Bittle, ten years old on Saturday, had ten boyfriends in for an afternoon of fun and games. The boys left with treats after a party supper. \ The eleventh birthday of Roddy Larson was celebrated Sunday when he invited five boys in for the afternoon. Games and supper were enjoyed and favors distributed. E Page 7 MOOSE LODGE HOLD ENROLLMENT CEREMONY On Saturday, February Ist, at 2 P.M. a very dignified and impres- sive enrollment ceremony was put on by the capable Degree Staff of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #1752,, .at which time, twelve more candidates hecame loyal Moose members. In the evening a get-acquainted party was held and fifty five birth- days celebrated. Governor Desrosiers introduced the officers and spoke highly of the Chapter of the Lodge. He also gave a short informative talk on the meaning and purpose of the Loyal Order of the Moose. Everyone had an enjoyable evening and left with a deep spirit of friendship. CHAMBER OF COMMERCE NOTES The slogan "Gem of the North Shore" was officially recognized as the descriptive title of Terrace Bay at the January meeting of the Cham- ber of Commerce. Correspondence read and discussed included reports on the proposed CBC Transmitter; a letter from the Hon. Geo. Wardrope re the Chamber's request for establishing a lookout on Hydro Hill. The membership chair- man reported two more members paid up and that he will be contacting those in arrears. The committee preparing the proposed Chamber paper is getting things lined up for publication before the tourist season. The next meeting of the Chamber Council is scheduled for February 20th at 8 P.M. in the old curling Lounge. L.A. TO COMMUNITY CHURCH HOLDS REGULAR MEETING Mrs. V. Hopper chaired the meeting Monday evening, when the Ladies Auxiliary held their February meeting in the Community Church. The opening hymn was accompanied at the piano by Mrs. F. Gould who also conducted the worship period. Secretary Mrs.J.Schritt read the minutes and correspondence. The financial statement was given by Treasurer Mrs. A.Chisholm. Reports of Convenors included Sick & Visiting, Mrs. F .Sweet; Program, Mrs. W. Farrell; Property, Mrs. H.Haughn; Ways & Means, Mrs. R.Harris. Mrs. A. Farrow and Mrs. C. Smith agreed to audit the books. An electric coffee percolator and beautiful glass bowl were donated to Mrs. Irene Goodfellow and she was duly thanked by the President. It was decided to install locks on the cupboards containing the dinner set and a motion passed to replace and bring the dinner service up to two hundred settings. Volunteers were asked to work the afternoon of the men's Smorgasbord . The ladies were informed the HI-C will purchase and paint the ceiling of the Sunday School hall, and the ladies will investigate the cost of paint for the walls. The meeting closed with a prayer by Mrs. Hopper. Guest speaker of the evening, Mrs. S. Hodgkiss, gave a tremendously interesting talk, together with colored slides, on her recent cruise in the Mediterranean. Sandwiches and tea were served by a committee under convenors Mesdames L. Phillips and E. Knight. ART CLUB NEWS A short business meeting will be held Thursday evening at 8.00 P.M., followed by a work period. Those wishing to complete paintings may do so, and there will be a new still life study for charcoal sketching. Just a reminder - - 1964 fees are due! ! CATHOLIC GIRLS' CLUB MEET The President, Margaret Ann Pineault, opened the meeting of the Catholic Girls' Club with prayer Sunday evening in St. Martin's Roman Catholic Parish. Routine business was discussed and the possibility of holding a Youth Rally among North Shore Clubs. The presentation of a cheque for $25.00 was made by the President to Mrs. J. Hale, Librarian, for the Parish Library. Very Rev. Dean E.A. Gallagher conducted a Quiz after which Mrs. H. Boudreau, the new C.W.L. representative, spoke a few words.
