SEARCH ORGANIZED FOR MISSING BO YS One organization needed by neither Schreiber nor Terrace Bay, it was proved beyond doubt by a recent search, is a formal rescue squad, with all it implies. Within minutes after the parents of the missing boys had reported their absence, plans were under- way which included, beyond men, an immediate offer from Kimb erly-Clark of any equipment re- quired, including four two-way radios and the heli- copter if needed. : In the morning 106 from both towns reported to the Schreiber CPR station wheré Chief Despatcher R.C. Campbell was co-ordinating the search and, with those who had continued to search throughout the night and the many individual parties out before the formal hunt went up, it is estimated that close to 200 were combing the area from Selim to Terrace Bay Two boats, Burton Phillips from Terrace Beach and Henry Dimmery from Boswell's Point, west of Schreiber, searched the Lake Superior Shore line. Lauri Halonen in the HEPC truck and the OPP in cruisers kept in close touch with the hunters. The searchers were organized in nine parties, each with a specific leader knowing the area he was to cover and the various signals arranged. The boys were discovered on the Lake Superior shore near Schreiber by Henry Dimmery, in good condition after spending the night out and their presence of mine in remaining where they were early in the afternoon when the fog rolled in is - attributed in large part to their scout training. They had built a fire, roasted a partridge (cannily saving the other one they had for morning) and slept, they stoutly maintain, throughout the night. Although they heard the whistles and siren and realized it was likely for them they held to their plan of wait- ing for dawn and heading for the lake and eventually a beach they'd recognize. The relief when the lads were found was a great in Terrace tay as in Schreiber -- the combined effort silencing forever those who enlarge upon small normal eu differences of opinion, in an unworthy effort to destroy a tacit affiliation.
