The passerby nods to Jimmy Commisso, seen inside busy with clippers and, in the next instant, is shaken as he apparently sees | Jim arranging milady's tresses. But, a step backward solves the problem---there are two figures--and the pedestrian goes on by to see Tony the hairdresser bow gravely. Elton McKibbon and Ken Goutz of Eganville were the guests of Mr.& Mrs. H.McParland while on a successful moose hunt. The annual adult frolic, a costume bail} sponsored by the volunteer fire brigade, will be held October 3] in the Town Hall with a $50 door prize--spot dance prize and costume prizes. This is the one annual appeal to the public made by this eminently worthy associa~ tion who contribute so much to public safety. All money realized goes back into the town coffers since it is used to purchase needed equipment. Mrs. Bruce Lidkea has her sister, Mrs. N. Alcock of Vancouver visiting her. Walter Ilijow spent the weekend in Port Arthur with his wife who has been taking a prolonged series of treatments in General Hospital. Mrs.Frank Fummerton entertained at tea in honor of her daughter-in-law, Mrs.Norman Fummerton who has left to rejoin her ihusband in Germany, posted with the Signal Corps. The bride, an accomplished accordian soloist played several selections by special request. Miss Nola Fummerton and Mrs.Eddy Nesbitt On October 19th the Schreiber Public Schoo teachers were hostesses to the North Shore Unit of the Federation of Women Teachers* Associations of Ontario. Despite the heavy fog members from both Terrace Bay and Marathon attended. Mrs. G. Colborne of Terrace Bay, accepted the posi- tion of Vice-President. Reports on the Toronto annual meeting and the Port Arthur Fall Conyerence were given by Miss Hadley, President. At noon a cold plate luncheon was served by the hostess group. CATHOLIC GIRLS IN, RELIGIOUS PAGEANT The October Crowning of the Blessed Virgin Mary was enacted by the members of the Catho- lic Girls* Club at the evening service in Holy Angels Roman Catholic Church. The leading characters--Georgette LeBlanc: as the Queen, Cathy McGrath and Norma McLel- lan, bridesmaids and Cathy Anderson and Cathy Cocks, flower girls, were led in procession bato the Church by other club members. The Crown, placed by the queen, is of red roses and the special decorations for the occasion arranged by the Rev.Sisters of St. Joseph's Convent. With the queen and her suite remaining be- fore the Altar the other club members form:a chain, a living Rosary, about the Church-- the girls in blue and silver capes repeating the Hail Mary and those in white and gold capes saying the Our Father, each lighting a candle as she utters her prayer.
