MILL CANADA SAVINGS BOND CAMPAIGN All Kimberly-Clark employees are being canvassed regarding the purchase of Canada Savings Bonds through the Payroll Savings Plan. This will be the 17th consecutive year that this popular method of saving has been made available to employees. Total sales have increased every year since 1955 to last year's record of $126,500. Business for the coming year will be dis- cussed, suggestions received and an executive for 1963-64 elected. In addition, names of those who wish to coach, manage or officiate will be received. THURSDAY, SMALL MEETING ROOM, FOR THE ANNUAL MINOR HOCKEY MEETING BUY CANADA SAVINGS BONDS Terrace Bay Council met Tuesday evening in the October 24, 1963 COUNCIL QUOTES Municipal Chambers, presided over by Reeve J.P. Heenan. Councillors Fraser, Valiquette, Adamo and Wellings were present, with the Secretary W. F. Strutt and Clerk Hanley. Spectators included Jack Moore, Lorne Vezina and Lorne McBride. Minutes of the past regular and two special meetings were approved and correspondence listed by the Secretary. A letter was received from J. | Phillips, Chairman of the Recreation Association, | suggesting a three man committee representing Council, Kimberly-Clark and the Association meet | to discuss the purpose of the area of the Conces- sionaire. A representative will be present from | Council. | Permission was granted to the C.G.1.T. to hold = | their annual Hallowe'en Candy canvas and the | Canadian Legion were to be allowed to sell Poppies | as requested. They further invited a representative | | | | t ! | | | | | of Council to attend the Memorial Service at the Cenotaph at 2.00 P.M. Sunday, November 10th. Gratitude was expressed from the Horticultural Society for support of their Flower and Vegetable Show. Recommendation was made by the Canada Gun- nite Company to repaint the bottom surface of the swimming pool with the original paint. Discus- sion of the serviceability of two types of paints offered found Council agreeing to their offer on a ' temporary basis, payment dependent on results. Council also discussed at length the extent of work done by Smith, Carter and Searle on the Pool and Change House before passing their bill of $1985.00 for payment. September accounts were perused, discussed and passed for payment as follows: Public Library $404.32, Hydro $5,560.69, Township $81,691.68, Recreation $4,417.22, Council also discussed past sale of poles, wire and equipment to Canada Con- struction Company. Permission was given to Hydro to supply power to a rural residence. Councillor Wellings replied to Reeve Heenan's questions on lighting in the South Camp Area and a motion was passed to have the five available lights installed as suggested by Mr. D. Boudreau. Councillor Wellings further informed Council of the work underway on the Sewage Lagoon and the Reeve recommended he urge the contractor of the street repair work to complete the curbing and fill as soon as possible. Councillor Adamo questioned the service of volun teers during the regular fire drill, for delivering pamphlets on Fire Prevention Week, and was in- formed by Councillor Fraser (Con't on Page 4)
