INO 4 SUMMER AWARDS AND PLAYGROUND DISPLAY The annual Summer Awards Night and Playground Display, which has become the highlight of the summer season for local children, will be held next Thursday night, August 29th, at the Terrace Bay High School. Starting time will be 7:00 P.M. SHARP. As in past years all summer awards for swim classes, swim meets, life-saving classes, minor baseball, and | all playground activities will be presented at this event. In addition, there will be a display of play- ground arts and crafts, along with entertainment provided by the Playground children. All those who receive awards for accomplishments during the summer are urged to be in attendance, and all others, both children and adults, are welcome to attend. This is not only an opportunity to show the child- ren your interest in their activities, but it is also a chance to view some of the activities covered by this summer Programme. BE SURE YOU ARE OUT NEXT THURSDAY EVEN- ING AT 7:00 P.M. HOUSE LEAGUE FASTBALL The local men's Fastball League ended regular sea- son's play last week, with KenMacs winning the league championship, followed by Osmars, Moose and Cavanaughs. In the semi-final best two out of three series, Kenmacs will meet Cavanaughs, Osmars will meet Moose. The winners of these series will meet in a'. best three out of five final . Games are held at the local ball park at 6 P.M. on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings. GET OUT AND ENJOY THE SPORT AND SUPPORT THE HOUSE LEAGUE TEAMS | ! MINOR BASEBALL Terrace Bay Little Leaguers travelled to Marathon last Saturday and dropped a close decision of four to three. Reports on the game indicate that the play was as close as the score, and both teams are to be congratulated on their top-notch performances. Marathon PeeWees and Little Leaguers return to Terrace Bay for games this Saturday, and there is a possibility that a Bantam team will be here as well. Watch for notices on the bulletin board at the Recrea- tion Centre for game times. Red Cross Intermediates - 10:30 A.M. Red Cross Seniors - 70:30 A.M. Other swim tests will be held at the beginning of the following week, according to this schedule:- Tadpoles - Monday at 10.00 A.M. GRADE 12 3.00 P.M. Tex Hbooks will be on sale at the school on open- ing day. A pre-registration sale of texts will be held on Friday, August 30, from 1.00 to 3.00 P.M. Lists of texts required have been posted on the front doors of the school . PLAYGROUND NEWS Bad weather early in the day caused the cancel- lation of the INDIAN NIGHT programme last Friday, but this was held on Tuesday night of this week in- stead . With the Playground Programme drawing to a close, the final Special Event Day will be held this Friday, with the theme "Fairy Tale" Day. In addition to the plans for this Friday's event, the Playground leaders are preparing the children for the big event of the year, the Playground Display and Summer Awards Night, to be held next Thursday, August 29th, at the High School. Children are urged to attend all the Playground programmes between now and the end of the year, so that they are prepared to take part in the Awards Night programme. PLAYGROUND PROGRAMME IS HELD REGARD- LESS OF WEATHER, WITH INDOOR PROGRAMMES AT THE HIGH SCHOOL ON BAD DAYS. ATTEND REGULARLY .
