August 8] 1963 LEGION FIELD DAY WELL-KNOWN RESIDENT DIES Long time resident and former Township Clerk, W.A Spicer passed away at his home on Monday, August Sth. Born in England, Mr. Spicer came to Schreiber in 1912 and was employed by the C.P.R. for a time as Car Inspector. In 1954 he retired from the Municipal Office where he had served as Clerk-Treasurer for twenty-five years. He was a member of the Church of England, the Orange Lodge, a charter member of Rebekah Lodge No.279 and P.D.D.G.M. of the Oddfellows Lodge No.402. He was predeceased by his wife in 1956. Two daughters; Connie (Mrs. Hubert Weaver); Miss Irene (Queenie); one grandson, Bill Weaver, A gala parade, led by Majorette Joanne Carlisle of Port Arthur, whose Lionette Twirling Corps recent- ly won the Duluth Seaway PortOrama Viking Award, and paced by Pipers Sandra Boon and Mary Lou Gollat of the Fort William Girls Pipe Band, started off the festivities planned by the Canadian Legion, Branch 109 for the August Civic Holiday.
