« COUNCIL QUOTES (Cont'd from Page |) These were passed on to Councillor Wellings who had been absent at the time. Councillor Wellings explained backup was due to the blockage caused by unbelievably large and numerous sticks, sand and debris, all inserted by children. The sewers had been completely cleared and heavy screening inserted under the lid, as a precautionary measure against further flooding. Council discussed the building of curbs along the affected lots, but will be left in abeyance pending observation at the next storm. Councillor Adamo reported too many bears were at the dump and he felt it dangerous. Council generally agreed it had become a great tourist attraction and with the number of cars consistently present, it should not prove hazardous. However the Game Warden will be requested to investigate. Preparations are underway for moving the Library and Councillor Wellings was asked to get Mr. Ferrier's permission to make the change. Councillor Wellings reported some special under- covers had been made for the round sewers and had proved very satisfactory for several years. He sought permission to have the additional I10 sewers completed in alike fashion. This was approved by Council and pri ces will be sought. Councillor Adamo felt the white line should be re- painted on the streets, and though Council in general felt it unnecessary, agreed to do the Shopping Plaza. He further requested the widening of the street near the Community Church, and Council discussed at length the cost of removing the deep curbing and fill. Councillor Valiquette requested Councillors Adamo and Wellings to study the corner of Fort Garry and Elizabeth when making their town survey re stop signs and parking areas. This corner was obstructed in its view due to the hill and the hedge.
