Present were Jack Thomas, Thor Olsen, Al Pattison, Dave Desrosier, | Jack Phillips, Joe Adamo and Ross Mitchell. Dave Desrosier was welcomed as a new committee member replacing Sax Lundberg who was compelled : to resign because of other commitments. Dave has been quite active in the work parties, spending many hours during the day and evening. He will : undoubtedly be a worthy asset to the committee. Jack Thomas gave a progress report on the golf course. He mentioned that clay for green beds is i being hauled to all greens before fairways are com= | pleted. This will eliminate having to drive heavy trucks over fairways when completed. Mentioned | also was the completion of number one hole which will have fairway and green seeded in a couple of | days. Number one is the last of the four holes scheduled for completion this summer. Work is being continued on other fairways and it is hoped to have three more ready for spring seeding. Work parties will again be organized this fall in erder to complete cutting and clearing the last fair- way. The committee is looking forward to comple= tion of the golf course next fall. There will be a considerable amount of work to be done clearing the heavy wooded edges of the fairways. This will reduce the loss of golf balls hit off the fairways. The purchase of a gas powered 18" lawn mower was approved. The price of the equipment is $404.00 plus tax. A financial statement was pres~ ented by Al Pattison showing Receipts to date totalling $4,257.77, Disbursements totalled $3, 676.30. These essentially make up | all the equipment naceaneas The committee also expressed the thought that |" green fees of some sort should be charged next year ; and perhaps continued until the new and permanent | golf committee would take over at which time memberships would be solicited. "since fees of any kind have never b een discussed. A Also mentioned was the talk around town that mem=' | bership fees will be high. This rumour is unfounded és repeatedly mentioned this golf course is being built ' for this town and district and everything will be done to make it feasible for everyone to participate in this great outdoor recreation.
