«- |.0.0.F. STUDENT TOUR A bus, with 36 high school students. from Oregon and British Columbia, on a tour to the United Nations arrived in Schreiber on Sunday morning. 'The group attended the church of their faith and then were served a turkey dinner in the United Church hall. This annual event is a project of the 1.0.O.F. and Rebekah Lodges and the only return from par- ticipants is their willingness to give talks on the ex- pedition, on their return, to any groups in their hometowns. These have proved most interesting . Accompanying the group were tour director R. P. Stolsig of Eugene, Ore., asst. director Mrs. Pearl Hunter of Cashmere, Wash. and Dean of Men, Robert Anderson of Vancouver, Canadian Director . J.D. Bryson, PDDGM, of |.0.0.F. #402, was M.C. for the dinner and each of the visitors gave their names and stated their educational goals. Councillor Mrs. Lester McCuaig extended the good wishes of the town and Mrs. Mavis Slater, PDDP Rebekah Lodge #279, spoke briefly. John Hamer of Lake Oswego, Ore., president of the students, expressed appreciation of the welcome given to them in Schreiber. Their stop here marked their first Church attendance. Lenore Hall, of Salem, Ore. , "Her Royal Note Cracker", led the group in a singsong. Tony Hazapis gave a toast to those who had prepared the delicious dinner . Dave White, driver on ten such tours, is called " Commander". He said much time was saved by being met and taken to the Church Hall. Also at the head table was Bill Jones, PNG of Lodge #402. The unique rules under which the game is played added to the dilemma of the players (holding the reins while fielding a ball, mounted when passing the ball and, best of all to the spectators, the endeavors to stay 'aboard' while going around the bases). At times the field resembled a rodeo.as players were bucked despite all manner of inglorious holds and the audience roared in appreciative laughter . The good sports who volunteered as players (since all Kinsmen were occupied with arrangements) in- cluded "Coke" Campbell, Joe Wills, Ken Dooley, Gus Boon, Gino Caccamo, Cos. Filane, Jack Moorish, Eddie Nesbitt, Bill Fadden, Bruce Morgan Eugene Coss, Frank McKenna, Barry Harper, Bart Cebrario, .Don Wilkinson and Lloyd Green. Following the game, donkey races, with more spectacular falls, were run, and it would be difficult to say who had more fun, the audience or participants.
