Salute to Labor Day Vol. 5, No. 35 Serving the District in which we live August 30, 1962 LABOR DAY MESSAGE Union Labor Da Message "BE YOUR BROTHER'S KEEPER... . When God gave.us life, he also gave us the tremendous responsibility to protect that life and the lives of others. How well we accept our responsibility will help deter- mine thenumber of people who are injured or die this coming Labor Day weekend as a result of drownings, traffic or home accidents. You will recall from the Old Testament that after Cain had slain Abel, God asked Cain, "Where is thy brother, Abel?" And Cain replied, "I know not. Am | my brother's keeper?" Cain had the opportunity to confess his sin but he chose to deny brotherhood and man's most important right - the right to life. If we are to be our brother's keeper, we must remember our moral obligations to protect life whenever we sit behind the wheel of a car, a boat, or performing our jobs at home or at work. We must assume responsibility for young ones and watch out for hazards in our homes or on our highways. Let's each one of us help to free this holiday from tragedy. Remember how many lives you hold in your hands. Be Your Brother's Keeper!" Signed: Pulp, Sulphite and Paper Mill Workers, Local 665, A. Valiquette, President. Electrical Workers Union, Local 1861, R.
