LAKEHEAD Terrace Bay Comets ~ Terrace Bay Comets exploded at bat in last weekend's doubleheader at the Lakehead but faulty fielding prevented them from sweeping two games, In a come-from-behind victory in the first game, the locals defeated East Ends 11-6 with Carl Kolody pitching all the way and getting fine support in the field and at bat. Down by a score of 5 -- 2 in the top of the last inning, Comets rallied for three runs, featur- ing Rick Polhillts two-run homer, then went on to sew the game up in the eighth, Bats were still booming in the second game with Fern McLeod and Bill Pytyck hitting home runs, along with other timely hitting, but errors afield helped Westfort to a 9 - 8 vic- tory. . Kolody relieved Taylor in the first inning and was the victim of the poor fielding. All players on the club were hitting well and Ron Schock chipped in with five hits for the day. Comets play Red Sox and Colonels in a double header at Port Arthur next Sunday.: SWIMMING TEAM NOTES Swim Team practices are held every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Dam at 11 A.M, There are two more North Shore Meets still to be held and we require good turnouts to practices if we are to present a strong team.
