ANDERSON The Hi-C of the Community Church and Rev, and Mrs, J,R,Anderson have financially "adopted" Kim Choon Shik, an 8-year-old Korean boy through Foster Parents' Plan, Inc., P,0,Box 65, Station B, Montreal. . The foster parents have promised to contribute $15 a month toward the child's support for at least one year, Choon, Shik's home is an orphanage, His memories. fade slowly but they are these, once lived with his own mother in a small room in Taegu.s. He cannot remember his father. He and his mother left Taegu and journeyed. by train to Pusan, a great seaport city on the south coast of Korea and where the orphanage is. _Somehow he was separated from his mother in the crowded streets, Choon Shik cried. and wandered until his small legs would scarcely carry him further. At last a policeman found him and brought him to the orphanage after a fruitless search for the mother, No public effort to discover her was successful and nothing has ever been heard of her since that unhappy day. He did not know his birthday. His age was estimated and the day he celebrates as his birthday is that of his entrance into the orphanage. Choon Shik is in the third grade of. primary school and is a good student. He is also active in sports and plays on the class soccer team, .He is patient and diligent in all. the work required of him, whether it be studies or helping keep the dormitory tidy. The teachers and the officials of the orphan- age feel that he is going to be a very fine young man, He BEARS _ POSE PROBLEM FOR CAMP OWNERS ETC, The insatiable hunger of bears in their quest for food is once again posing a problem for camp owners and others in the district. The lack of an abundant berry crop has, of necessity, forced the bear to frequent garbage dumps, camps, and even town streets in search of the food they have been accustomed to, All too often bears are destroyed simply because they have been observed, in the vicinity of civilization and classed as a nuisance, In the animal's natural environment the term "nuisance" is not applicable and it is only when they interfere with human inter- ests that the term applies, In order to justify the killing of bears we should first ask ourselves the question "is it necessary?"
