The Knights of Columbus Progress Award also was won by Annette, and the Catholic Women's League Deportment Awards were won by Barbara Pineault and David Falzetta, The Kiwanis Proficiency Awards are given each year to grade 8 students who have honor | standing. They are also based on co-operation with the teaching staff and ability to get along well with their fellow students. The two students chosen also receive a prize presented each year by Soughton Jewelers. COMETS TAKE 2 OUT OF 3 GAMES AT LAKEHEAD ' ne ne ee eee a A LE NTE = Se The Terrace Bay Comets travelled to the Lakehead for three games this past weekend, On Saturday the Comets defeated the Westfort Albions 4-3, with Carl Kolody getting the victory over Anaba of the Albions, Hach club managed 8 hits, The first game on Sunday saw the Comets literally blasted by the Fort William East Ends, as they came out on the short end of a 14-1 score. Lefty Tait pitched one-hit ball to gain the victory. Ted Hanley, the first of three pitchers for the Comets,suffered the defeat, Errors proved costly for the Comets, and the "inders" pounded Terrace Bay pitching | for 18 hits. The second game on Sunday saw the "Comets" defeat the Enders 8-6, with Rex Taylor el his first win of the season, Jarvis, the second of three pitchers used by the Enders, suffered the defeat. Comets took an early 2-0 lead in the game, but Enders came back to take a'6-2 lead. Going to the top of the 7th inning the Comets were behind 6-4 and scored 4 runs, and then held the East Ends offi in the last half of the 7th for the win.
