PUBLIC NOTICE The Township Council. has directed me to issue _ the following statement regarding the level of 'Good Housekeeping! in Terrace Bay. 0 There is an increasing amount of litter around the shopping area and in the sec~ tion of the Town lying south of the Highway. The cost to keep this litter ' picked up at all times would be pro- hibitive. Litter at the shopping centre originates largely from failure to use the receptacles provided, Litter : throughout the residential areas origin-~ ates from failure of residents to proper- ly secure dry garbage before setting it out for collection, Some residents are storing equipment and material outside the bounds of their own lots. This is particularly noticeable in the "Green Belt" areas along either side of the Highway. This is Township property and is reserved to make an attractive appearance to the Town, All privately owned material is to be re- moved or further misuse of these areas ' will result in action by the Township on vielators, ight be listed, 3, Old cars or trucks, will not under any circumstances be allowed to be stored outside the householder's property, Stripped or partially stripped cars or trucks will not be permitted to remain within a resident's yard beyond a reasonable length of time, They are to be removed to the scrap metal dump. Council is confident all residents will respond to this request for annual Spring Cleaning and continued tidy habits. The Corporation of _ The Township of Terrace Bay, W.F, Strutt, Clerk-Treasurer, TOURIST GUIDES AND OUTFITTERS In order to serve the tourists in our district, the Terrace Bay Commerce Committee wishes to compile a list of all available guides and outfitters in this area. All interested persons are requested to write to the Commerce Committee; listing the services and facilities which they have available and any other information which "SAVE-A~LIFE WEEK" . In response to "Save-A-Life Week" any group or organization wishing to have a demonstration on artificial respiration during the month of May can do so by con= tacting W, Olson, Secretary of the St.Johnts Ambulance Brigade, Box 159, Schreiber, Ont, MOORE'S MOTORS AGAIN BROKEN INTO During the night of Sunday, May 7th, vandals again broke into Moore's Service Station located at the intersection of Highway #17 and the Mill Road. Entry was gained by smashing a large plate glass window in the front door, Al-~ though entry to the office was gained nothin was removed from the premises. SCHREIBER CHAMBER OF COMMERCE MEETS Last week twenty-five persons attended a meeting of the Schreiber District Chamber of Commerc.e. Mr. R.Spadoni presided and the minutes of. the last meeting were read and adepted. The Treasurer's Report was given and correspondence read. Included were re- quests for pictures, literature and pamphlet on the surrounding district and letters from persons asking for tourist information, Thanks were received from Ray Beggs of the Port Arthur Chamber. Members discussed erection of suitable signs on the Highway, indicating all Towns in.the district and Dr. Cornell spoke on the work of the Tourist Committee. Don Beno was appointed to look after Highway signs and the setting up of a local Tourist infor- Mation Bureau, (Cont?4 Page 10)
