Not so many years ago, before laws were passed by many communities banning the local sale and use of fireworks, a number of acci- dents and fires were caused by their use. - Children.lost their eyesight or became deaf-~ others were badly burnt-~all as a result of noise makers being held too close to eyes or ears. Sometimes a prankster dropped one down | someone's neck or pocket, causing serious burns, i { | TWO $50 SPECIALS! \ | | i | | In our community, with the bush at our back | | ( $25.00 DOOR PRIZE Schreiber Ski Club of Terrace Bay presented their 2nd Annual Concert to an appreciative audience gathered in the High School Auditoriun, The programme, divided into four sections, opened with the ensemble on stage, wearing vari-coloured evening gowns, picture hats and carrying nosegays, fans & parasols, sing- ing a group of lilting Viennese Waltzes. ' The second section included the Kashmiri Song with the solo part done by Miss Louise Roland and concluded with the beautiful "In A Monastery Garden," Teen Town members presented one of their mirth-provoking numbers when, with appropriate actions, they greeted "Chloe" a la Spike Jones Following intermission guest artists were trumpeters P, Rapke, W. Colborne, F, Gould and L. Kimerer who entertained with four selec tions, - The Harmony Belles then presented four numbers which ranged from the haunting "Whereter you walk"to the sprightly "Siboney." Highlight of the event was a Minstrel Show when the Harmony Belles appeared on stage in Black Face and Costume and presented some rollicking tunes, Comedy relief was handled by David Wheeler as Interlocutor and Donald Farrow as "end Lady?". The Harmony Belles are conducted by Mrs. E, Hodgkiss who is also accompanist, Inmediately preceding the concert she was the recipient of a beautiful basket of Red Roses - gift of the choir members.
