Sparked by a group of Schreiber business men and inter- ested citizens, the elction proved to be one of the liveliest in.several years. E,Gino Caccamo, the other candidate for Mayor was defeated by forty-six votes. | Voting on the three councillors was also close, F.V,Harness 'topped the polls with 433 which makes him a two-year Councillor and J.P, Guina was second with 338--placing him too on The lone distaff candidate, Mrs.I.McCuaig, placed third with 312 votes, putting her in for a one year term. The office of Hydro Commissioner will be | filled by J.D.Phillips who received 300 votes. J.E.Stokes and J.,Caccamo received 209 and 195 respectively, A pre-election Rally, sponsored by the same group of Schreiber business men and citizens, was held in the Town Hall on December 6th, Mrs.J.D.Bryson accompanied !'0 Canada! and the Chairman, R.B.Spadoni, welcomed those pre- - sent and outlined both the purpose of and procedure for the meeting. A guest speaker, Mr,.S,Korchuk, chose as his topic "Organized Recreation in Schreiber. re Candidates for Reeve took the platform next and presented their views, followed by Mr.G.Gordon who addressed "Councillor Candi- dates and Future Councillors of Schreiber." Each of the Candidates for Council and Hydro Commission-were given an opportunity to speak and a question and answer period follow- ed. Comments by the Chairman and God Save The | Queen concluded the meeting, SUPERIORS DEFEAT NIPIGON IN FIRST LEAGUE GAME The opening game for.the Terrace Bay Sup= eriors in the North Shore Hockey League 'against the Nipigon Flyers ended with a lop- Sided score of ten to three for Superiors. The Flyers were not outplayed.as greatly as the score indicated.
