The afternoon session was devoted to trans- acting the business of the Association and planning future activities, The Association has decided to co-sponsor Childrents Art Courses at Quetico Conference and Training Centpe, Kawene, Ontario, The members dis- cussed a Scholarship Fund for a boy or girl up to twenty-five years of age. Terrace Bay Kiwanis Club, which received its charter in November, 1949, became a fully incorporated member of Kiwanis International. at the dinner meet- ing held on October 5th, 1960, Presentation of the incorporation papers was made to President Ralph Lindberg by Past Lieutenant Governor, Ernie Rowson, Mr, Jack Willis, District Secretary of Western Canada District of Kiwanis Inter« national, was present for this occasion, Jack gave an inspiring talk on the elements of Kiwanis and brought greetings to the club from Governor Bruce Knowlton who was unable to attend. Although the Terrace Bay Kiwanis Club 'has always been affiliated with Kiwanis International, it is now legally recognized as an incorporated part of the International Organization, Vol.3, Not 41 'TERRACE Bay News Authorized as 2nd Class mail, Post Office Department, Ottawa October 12, 1960 PROSPECTING COURSE TO BE HELD AT QUETICO A unique experiment is to be tried at the Quetico Conference and Training Centre October 21-23 when a "Weekend Prospectors! Course" will be held, Designed to cover a wide range of talent and interest, from those of the strictly amateur individual to the professional pros- pector, it. is hoped the course will stimulate interest in prospecting in North- Western Ontario, Instruction will be at the highest level and will include such industry-renowned guest lecturers as Hugh M, Roberts, Duluth; Dr.M.W.Martley and Dr. F.Joliffe, professor, Queen's University, Kingston, :, Course leader will be Dr.H.S.Hicks, Steep Rock geologist and he will be assisted by J,Gauvin and J,Sadler, Steep Rock Iron Mines Geology staff and Tony Spat, Caland Ore Geologist, The course, designed to fit the busy schedule of everyone from a housewife to a banker, will commence on Friday, October 21 and will conclude on Sunday, October 23. Registration fee of $30 includes lodging, board and instruction. Course aids will include a sample kit from the Dept., of Mines which the student may retain, a large selection of rock types likely to be encountered in this country and up-to-date literature. Anyone interested may receive additional information concerning the course from C.M. McIntosh, director, Quetico Conference and Training Centre, Kawene, Ontario. Mr.McIntosh, speaking of the course to the News indicated that the only equipment the student is required to supply will be a pen knife, notebook and pencil and magnifying glass, . Attendance at the course is limited to availability of accommodation at the centre and those interested are urged to make reservations as quickly as possible to avoid disappointment. WRITING COLLECTIVE AGREEMENT TO BE STUDIED AT QUETICO "On October 17, 18 and 19 Norman L, Mathews, Q.C., noted Canadian lecturer, author, counsel and advisor on labor law, 'will lead a panel of labor law experts at a seminar on Writing the Collective Agree- ment at the Quetico Conference and Training Centre, Acting with. Mr.Mathews. will be Barton B, Trembley, Pt.Arthur and G,.B,Weiler of Ft.William, According to N,S.Scott, chairman of the Quetico seminar planning committee, "The seminar has been designed for management personnel who negotiate collective agree- ments or who make decisions during negotia- tions, To ensure intensive discussion between participants and resource leader, registra- tion has been limited to 25 persons.
