DR. ARTHUR LAVENDER HONOURED ON RETIREMENT Last Saturday evening a testimonial dinner was held in Hotel Terrace in honour of Rev. Arthur Lavender, D.D., the well. loved minister of Terrace Bay Community Church.who retires.'soon and will make his home in Mount Forest, Ontario. At the head table with Dr. Lavender and his sister, Miss Louise Lavender, were long time friends of the Lavender family. Rev. Russell Peden of Port Arthur and his, wife, Mr. Robert Shirriff, Master of Ceremonies, and his wife, and Mr. EB, Rowson, Chairman of the Church Board, and Mrs. Rowson. Tribute to Dr. Lavender was. paid by Rev. | Peden who, together with several others attending the dinner, related many amusing anecdotes and incidents which were directly connected with Dr. Lavender. On Sunday, immediately following the morning service, hundreds of friends from Port Arthur, Schreiber, Marathon, U,S.A., Terrace Bay and district gathered on the Community Church grounds to pay tribute to _Dr. Lavender, Those present were invited to the Church Hall where sandwiches, cakes and tea were distributed by a committee convened by Mrs. J.
