MATRON 'Silver Birch Pham ted 264 held a stated meeting on June 7th honouring Worthy Grand Matron Kathleen Coates.of the Grand Chapter of Ontario, her husband, Percy Coates, Grand Ruth, Mrs, Margaret McInnes and Grand Mantha, Mrs. "Evelyn Jeffery, The Worthy Matron, Mrs. Audrey Rowley, ond the Worthy Patron, Alex Sinkins, presided. Routing business was transacted and Mrs, Coates spoke briefly stressing the needs and benefits of the Estral Fund which assists students entering the ministry. A gift from the Chapter was presented to the Worthy Grand Matron by Mrs, Helen West, Following the neeting delicuous refreshments were served from a table covered with a lace cloth graced with a crystal bowl of pale pink roses flanked .by silver candelabrums with blue tapers. Convenor of 'the: dunch committee was Mrs, Justine Buffet, Preceding the meeting a banquet was held at Hotel Terrace honouring, the distinguised guests; Alex Sinkins was toastmaster and chairman. Flowers graced the head table and the other tables were gay with-roses and bud vases. The Toast to the Queen was followed by one to the Grand Chapter given by Mrs. N. Thrower and responded to by the W,G.M., Kathleen, Coates, Mrs. E, Harris proposed a toast to the visitors which was responded to by Mrs. E, Jeffery. Galvin in the chair, The meéting opened with singing "The Churches One' Foundation" accompanied at the piano by Mrs, M.Simner, irs, li.Lundberg gave the Scripture reading and lcd in prayer. A tape recording of the Jun- ior Sunday School provided many chuckles and gave an insight into the work of those who conduct' the class. -Mr.Boyd thanked the © auxiliary for inviting Mr.ifade and himself to the meeting end requested assistance in obtaining more Sunday School teachers in the Fall to replace those departing or re= signing.
