MOTHERS - If you have a son in Minor Hockey, please attend our General Meeting and give us your views (all new ideas wel- come and hear our financial report from the 1958-59 season, The meeting will be held Thursday night at 8,15 September 24th in the Small Meeting Room of the Recreation Centre, QUESTIONS THAT MAY BE ASKED ADOUT THE TUBERCULIN TEST WHY THE TUBERCULIN TEST? For two reasons: (a) To find those who have been infected rather than after disease has developed, (b) To eliminate unnecessary x-rays for those under 40 years of age not yet infected. WHAT IS MEANT BY FINDING THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN INFECTED? Before one can develop tuberculosis, one must become infected. A tuberculin test given at the opportune time will show this infection months, even years ahead of the first sign of disease as revealed by a chest x-ray. For the millions of people of Ontario who are not yet infected, repeat tuberculin tests will give them early warn- ing should they become infected during future years. HOW ARE UNNECESSARY X-RAYS AVOIDED? Those persons under 40 years of age who have been infected,' as shown by a positive tuberculin reaction, as well as all over 40 years of age regardless of the results of the tests will be advised to have a chest x-ray. All others will be advised to have repeat . annual tuberculin tests. HOW WILL I KNOW IF I AM "POSITIVE"? When you return to the clinic 2 to 4 days later, a doctor or nurse will examine your arm & tell you. Many times, only a trained examiner can distinguish between negative & positive reactions. DON!T FORGET THE T.B. CLINIC OCTOBER 20 & 21. HE: TsANGUS DUNCAN OPTOMETRISTS WILL BE AT THE Y.M.C.A. IN. SCHREIBER TUESDAY ~ SEPTEMBER 29TH.
