TERRAG ee Circulation Terrace Bay & Schreiber | | NEW TOWN EMERGENCY ALERTING SYSTEM | A new Bmergency Alerting System has been installed for use by the Terrace Bay Fire | Department in case of fire or other emergene- ; cies. IN CASE OF FIRE IN TOWN TELEPHONE 3222 | Closed circuit telephone equipment has been installed at the guard station at the | Mill, This closed circuit system is connect- ! ed to the Fire Hall and the homes of the Fire | Chief, the twelve volunteer firemen and the ; regular firemen, The Guard Station at the 2° Mill is the control station for fires and | emergencies, | In the event of fire or emergency the Guard Station and the Fire Hall receive the | call simultaneously, At the Guard Station a | call is placed on the closed circuit system. This alerts all firemen who are informed just | where the fire is\in the town. The firemen | then proceed to the scene of the fire, At j the same time the regular mill fire alarm ; system will go into operation, so that any town firemen who are in the Mill can be alert ed. | When the required number of firemen are contacted instantly over the closed circuit | telephone system the town fire siren will not ' be used, The siren will only be used if con- ' tact cannot be made immediately with the required number of firemen, The Mill whistle { will not be used in the event of fire unless | all other communication systems fail, | If the town siren sounds residents are | | { i | | } { . | | | | | | | | asked not to phone the mill switchboard for information unless they are directly concern- ed with the fire. Information will not be given to anyone else, The Township of Terrace Bay will pay for the rental of equipment involved in the Emergency Alerting System, There is no doubt that the Town now has a complete communicatio and alerting system, comparable with any othe town in the Province, MILL FIRE PROTECTION: Since May lst a revised fire alarm system has been adopted at the Kimberly-Clark Mill, Bhe Mill volunteer fire crew procedures have also been revised so that the Mill fire alarm system and the fire crews are much more effective and efficient. BUSH FIRE CONTROL: In case of bush fires in the area a sep- arate organization of manpower would be alerted. Here again the Mill Guard Station is the control centre. Kimberly-Clark Pulp & Paper Company purchased a two-way radio set, with two portable receivers and trans-~ mitters to be used at the scene of action, The base station is the Guard Station where crews and equipment can be controlled, The changes or revisions in the fire-alert- ing systems have been co-ordinated by C. E, Paget of the Kimberly-Clark Pulp & Paper Co. It is obvious that the town and Mill authorities have spent much time and money in assuring that Terrace Bay has the finest in communication equipment for use in case of emergencies, It is now up to each of us as individual residents to be alert to the dan- ws r a '=: we zd : 8 = 3 Vol.2, No.28 - COMETS LOSE FIRST 1-0, SECOND RAINED OUT |, the Comets and Scavarelli for the East Ends | hooked up in a tight pitcher's dual.
