TERRACE BAY NEWS Circulation Terrace Bay & Schreiber REEVE AND COUNCILLORS INAUGURATED At 4:00 P.M. on Friday, July 3: 3rd, the newly elected Reeve and four Councillors of the Township of Terrace Bay met in the Municipal Office. Very Rev. Dean E,A.Gallagher, Doctor Arthur Lavender, Mr. F.A,Strutt and W. Hanly were also present for the Ceremony, The Reeve, Mr. J.A.Ferrier, opened the meeting by outlining the procedure to be : Dean Gallagher prayed for Divine Guidance for the group who then read the oath of office in unison--were indivually sworn in by F.A. Strutt and then each affixed their signature to the oath. The Oath of Allegiance was similarly admin- istered and Mr.Ferrier in turn performed the same duty for Mr. Strutt and Mr. Hanly. Dr. A. Lavender delivered an inaugural address, reminding those present of the words of the Psalmist "Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it". He concluded by remarking that "it is a great privilege to have been chosen by your fellow citizens to represent them at the municipal level of Government. May God giive you health and strength, grace and wisdom to measure up to your responsibilities and to discharge your stewardship." Mr, Ferrier thanked Dean Gallagher and Dr. Lavender for their participation in the servic and immediately entered on the business part of the meeting, In_a very short time the appointuwents of Mr Strutt as Clerk-Treasurer and Assessor and that of his assistant W.Hanly were ratified; a number of iminent problems were discussed and left with Councillors for further thought and future decision and a decision on day and time of future Council meetings was reached: namely, 4:30 P.M. on the second and fourth Wednesday in each month, with emergent meet- ings to be called as required. Terrace Bay was. outhit in both games but in the second one they made their hits count, A, Costa was the | hitting star for the Comets banging out a triple and two doubles for the day. The split moved Terrace Bay into fourth place in the League Standings --- 1/2 game ahead of Red Rock.
