Congratulations are in order for the Congratulations are ' equally deserved by those candidates who did | not make it, In running for office they have shown a genuine interest in the affairs of this community and the number of nominees for office made the election a very interesting one indeed, The Kiwanis Club of Terrace Bay sparked a great deal of interest in the election, par- ticularly with their "Meet the Candidates Night" held on Wednesday, June 17th in the High School Auditorium, At this meeting more than 250 people heard each candidate speak and a very interesting question and answer period followed. The Kiwanis Club are to be complimented on doing a very find job, While bouquets are being handed out we would be remiss if we did not mention the efficient job done by Secretary-Treasurer Frank Strutt and Bill Hanly all through this period of nominations and elections, and one can safely say that it is only the beginning for them! All civic minded citizens, we feel sure, have been well pleased with the terrific interest shown in the election. This inter- est was definitely confirmed at the poll on June 24th, as indicated by the number of voters who turned out, We are certain that this interest in civic matters will continue and flourish under the new Town Council. June 25, 1959 Di REE eae Ressdabaaheird SCHREIBER CADETS 6-TIME WINNERS OF SHIELD The Instructional Staff of the Schreiber High School Cadet Corps, No.2201, are pleased to announce that word has been received from Prairie Command Headquarters in Winnipeg that the Corps has won the Lord Strathcona Shield for the sixth time, following the annual inspection in May. They stood fourth out of twenty-five corps and have an added award this year, the Lord Strathcona Trust Challenge Cup, annual classification for school corps. RL ee eet eee JULY FIRST FIREWORKS DISPLAY Members of the local Moose Lodge, in co-operation with the Recreation Association, have agreed to supervise the giant Fireworks Display being sponsored by the Improvement | District Board on July Ist. The final pro- gramme, with place, time and other informa- tion,will be mailed to everyone in Terrace | Bay shortly. | Keep the evening of July lst open to cele- brate the inaugeration of the Township of SCHREIBER KINSMEN 'SPONSOR JULY 1ST PROGRAM The Kinsmen Club of Schreiber extend a cordial 'invitation to all residents of Schreiber and the surrounding district to their annual Field Day on Wednesday, July Ist. Races for children will start at the Ball Field at 10 A.M,, continuing until 12 Noon. Cash prizes will be awarded for these events. The Parade will move off from the Schreiber High School at 1:00 P.M. to the Ball Field. All children are asked to be in costume and ready to leave on time. Cash prizes will be awarded for the best costume, best decorated bicycle, best decorated baby carriage, best novelty costume and best original costume. The Kinette Club of Schreiber are in the process of distributing free treat tickets to all children in Town under twelve years of age. These tickets will be honoured at the food booth on the field the entire day. As in the past, the booth will be operated by the Kinettes, assisted by members of the Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary. It is hoped to have a pony on hand for all the aspiring cowboys, also a merry-go-round, Games of all description will be the order of the day. Tickets will be available on the field at fifty cents each for a C.C.M, Boys or Girls bicycle which will be drawn at approximately 5:30 P.M, The Draw Committee have obtained ten priz- es ranging from a Power Mower to a Mixette.
