NEws May 14th, 1959 | - TWO MEN DROWN IN AGUASABON RIVER Ole Hops, aged sixty-four, Boat operator _ and Michael Sokolan, aged thirty-three, river : driver, along with a third person later res- cured, were swept into the fast water of the Aguasabon River while loosening a log jam. Dragging operations are continuing under the direction of Corpcral F.Richardson of the ' Schreiber Detachment and Constable W.J, Cringle. It is the duty of each of us to re- port those who insist on doing it. Broken fencing, damaged playground equip- ment, walls marked with crayon and chalk, broken benches, holes dug in ball fields, torn roofing; all of these are costly to re- pair and maintain, Beyond that, along with bottles broken at the beach, tot-lots and wading pool, they are very dangerous. In addition, they show a great lack of community pride in keeping our facilities and town in good condition, If you see anyone mistreating or damaging public property, either stop them or report them to the Recreation Association. MOTHER & DAUGHTER BANQUET LAST SATURDAY One hundred and ten Terrace Bay Brownies and Mothers sat down Saturday evening in Hotel Terrace to the Fifth Annual Brownie Banquet. Welcomed by the Chairman of the Local Association to Guides and Brownies, Mrs.M.Dashkewytch, the girls, their Mothers, Leaders, special guests from Marathon, the . District Commissioner, Mrs.D.Earle and Mrs. F,Gardner a Brown Owl, and executive members of the Local Association enjoyed a very special turkey dinner, Grace was sung by the Brownies and the toast to the Queen was proposed by Joanne Brown. A sing-son proved a delightful inter- lude. between the main course and dessert. The toast to Lady Baden Powell was proposed by Jill Crandlemire, Nancy Wade gave a very lovely toast to all the Mothers and, in response, her Mother, Mrs.D.Wade, paid tri- bute to the many leaders who gave so freely of their time and energies to teach and guide these young girls in Brownie land, As usual, Mrs,Earle charmed all the young members and their guests with a special Brownie story after thanking the Brownies and their leaders for the opportunity to be present.
