Mrs, R.H,Skinner read the minutes and 'corres- pondence and Mrs, W.Thrower gave the treas- urer's report, stating the recent bake sale and tea had been most successful, The flower fund account was given by Mrs. R.Bailey and the sewing committee report by Mrs. Ferd Richardson, Mrs, J,B,Ridsdale gave the sick visiting and card report, The executive, who had met to discuss the proposed uniom of all women's groups in the Church, presented their report and decisions and. these being approved by the members, the report was for-= warded to the Presbytery, It was decided to hold the May)meeting on May 7th instead of.6th, This nceting will be open to the public as a Talent: Social, being held at.8.30 F.M...In. addition to a program there will be baking and candy for sale and Mrs, Macadam will be the convenor, A short business meeting will be held prior to the program. To conclude the meeting a Bring & Buy event was held with Mrs, N.Smith and Mrs, Ridsdale in charge, Mrs, Joe Milks is in McKellar Hospital, Geo, Cataford visited in White River and-Art. Le Blanc spent a few days in Chapleau on Business, Mr, & Mrs, Stanley Ilijow and their family are Visiting the Walter Ilijow's. Mrs. John Kelly and her family are with the E.J. Sheehan's, Mrs. F.Brown of Port arthur, visited the Jack Stokes, taking her granddaughter Kathie home with her for a visit. Mrs. & Mrs. Mulligan Sri, of White "iver spent the weekend with Mr,& Mrs.F.Mulligan. Mrs, Eileen Grover was convenor cf the occasion, ee eee ENGINEER MOLSE GRATTON FETED ON RETIREMENT Engineer Moise Gratton retired on April 2nd with a host of friends and his family greeting him as he stepped down-from-the cab, His wife,' Mr, & Mrs, Leo Gratton, Anita and Colleen of Winnipeg, Mr, & Mrs. Eddie Gratton Gary and Ronnie of Toronto and Mr. and Mrs, Henry Turcotte were present, with George Birch, road foreman of engines, Don Rosie, local chairman.of B, of L.£,, J.C.Branchaud, deisel Dept., despatcher Innes West, W.G. Gurlonger, car Department chairman and-bro- ther engineers J,O,Milks, R.T.McBride, EJ, Morrill, E,J,Sheehan, J,Rummery and Harry Welbourne and Allan McCorkill and Hugh Stew- art.of the shop department, were among those waiting to offer congratulations. Mr,Gratton, who entered CPR-service as a fireman°in November, 1917, made his first trip with engineer J.Coyne, on the 3835 with conductor Gus iricson. -In Octeber 1941 he was sét up as Engineer with Fred Kelly as conductor of his first running trip. Except for ten years during the depression Mr. Gratton has been with the CPR and now, in his retirement leaves his son Eddie to carry on the family tradition. ~Mr.Gratton still carries the first switch key issued to him SE CE "EN a a ee Fe ee ree ee A RN, SR YR ON rN RENEE On Wednesday a family dinner was held in the Gratton home when the only one absent was a daughter, Mrs.A, Roy, unable to be here because of illness, In the evening Mr, and Mrs.Gratton were at home to their friends, receiving many lovely gifts and sccres of cards and messages, During the dinner, served by Mrs, E,Quelette and Mrs. R.Martin, his grandchildren presented Mr.Gratton with a miniature engineer amazingly complete, even to watch chain of shoe lace, time card, haversack, typical. pleated cap and-overalls, The figure was mounted on a wide base and this was used for autographs.
