| | | | | | : March 19, 1959 FERRACE-TAY HOCKEY ASSOCIATION ANNUAL MEETING | The Annual meeting of the Hockey Associa- tion will be held Wednesday, April 8th at 7.30 P.Ms in the large meeting room of. the Kecreation Centre. Election of officers for the 1959-60 execu- tive will be held. - Please note Article Xl Amendments to the constitution which reads: "Amendments to the Constitution may be made at an annual meeting by a two thirds majority vote of those present, All amendments, how~ ever, shall be submitted in writing to the Executive Committee fourteen (14) days prior to the annual meeting. Proposed amendments must be publicized in two (2) issues of the local paper prior to said meeting, | ; THUNDER BAY PLAYOFFS In the event that ice is not available in Marathon, the Thunder Bay Intermediate Play- offs will continue in the Terrace Bay Arena next week, Marathon plays at Ft.Frances Friday and Sunday of this week. If they win one game each there, a third game will be played on Monday, March '23rd, and will continue here on March 25th, Wednesday, If either team takes both of the first two games played "in Fort Frances, the series will continue here on Tuesday, March 24th, Watch the bulletin boards at the Mill and Recreation Centre for further notice. ARENA CLOSING The Terrace Bay Arena will remain open for winter activities until Sunday, April 5th. Hockey and Public Skating will continue throug out the remaining three weeks. Special Public Skating sessions will be scheduled for after- noons during the Easter holidays. FIGURE SKATING NEWS The following are a group of children who were successful in passing preliminary skat- ing tests: Betty-Lou Cavanaugh, Jean Hopper, Marie Sadowick, Sheryl Duncan, Margaret-Dale Locking, Donna Fedoruk, Molly Harris, Velma LeBlanc, Barbara Pineault, Marie Delaronde,. From Marathon: Susan Gardner, Maureen Stewardson, lst. Test passed'= Marcia Hamilton, There will be a party for all figure skaters on Saturday, March 21st, at 2 P.M, in St.Martin's Parish Hall, Films will be shown and refreshments served, CURLING NEWS Mixed Curling - This Saturday, March 21st, will see the last draw in the mixed curling for the LongLac Trophy. There should be some good games on this draw as several teams will be fighting it out for top spot. It looks like there may have to be some playoffs. Any uncurled games in this event must be cleaned up as soon as possible if they have any bear- ing on the final outcome of the event. Trophies - Will any curlers who are in poss- ession of any of the Club's trophies please turn them over to Harry Gusul as soon as" - possible, : Bonspiel - Everything is in readiness for our ¥ t annual Bonspiel. The date for our annual wind-up banquet and dance will be announced in next week!s "News" e HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY MEETING MARCH 20TH 1 The regular monthly meeting of the Terrace! Bay Horticultural Society will be held in the| large meeting room at the Recreation Centre at 8:15'P.M. on Friday, March 20th. An inter- esting speaker on the proposed parks program for our town will be on hand and he will hold, a question period following his talk. RADIO. STATION CFPA INCREASE POWER Radio Station CFPA, Port Arthur, is now on regular schedule With increased power. The station operates on 1230 ke., and should be received much better throughout the dis- trict. CFPA will appreciate reception reports from the Terrace Bay area.
