| vu November 20, 1958 SUPERIORS DROP EX GAME TO P.A.BEARCATS EE Eh DEARUA LS. The games with the Bearcats over the past weekend certainly set us back score wise but from it we also gained considerable exper- ience, We note that Marathon has come up with some new players that are really going to boost a team that already gives Superiors a tough time. We note also that Marathon is still the heavier team, The line of Moon, Ferguson and Cox looks as though it wiil give us trouble as far as speed is concerned, MacNamara showed up well in his scoring against the Bearcats and fits in to the play of Charyna, Lanteigne and Henderson, Superiors took the low end of an eight to two score but the score doesn't show that offensively, the Superiors had the edge. They messed up their scoring opportunities very badly. Ina first game of the season and against a heavy experienced bunch like the Bearcats it is understandeble that over+anxious and too hasty passes and shots are made. The Superiors played in that cat- egory around the net, Both the Osmars and Whalen flumped shots that in the past have been duck soup to them, Wainnika, Calder and Tookenay did every- thing they do well in practice but seemed to have net fright. Sure shots like Lind- quist, Blom, Cyr, hovered around the net but fumbled at the critical point, Our defense was good and played fairly consistent hockey with only the occasional costly error when clearing under pressure, . Other years the Sups started off with a bang ard won even with making untold errors, so learning nothing. This year they are stronger on their lines and have learned © that they are not infallible, This before league play could be a good open, FIGURE SKATING NEWS 'After two weeks of figure skating group classes are all pretty weel organized.
