LARGEST CIRCULATION IN TERRACE BAY MORO-AND PETRIE CHOSEN FOR L. 5. As ALL-STAR Basebatt--tcont tay GAME LAST SUNDAY, EAST WINS OVER WEST IN A 2-1 BALL GAME. Capping off a creditable season of ball for the two, both Jim Moro and Eugene Petrie were selected for All-Star positions from the L.B.A. Terrace team. Moro was selected as pitcher on the first team while Petrie got the nod for left field on the lst team. Both performed last Sunday for Effnert's All-Stars and helped the team to edge out. a 2-1 win over Assano's All-Stars. On Sunday Moro drew the starting assign- ment as each pitcher chosen for the teams worked 3 innings. Moro in his stint allowed 4 hits but was uncanny in the clutch as he personally threw out a runner at home plate. He also allowed no runs or walks while striking out 2 and picking up 3 fielding assists. In his only appearance at the plate he flew out to deep centre. Petrie also was a member of the start- ing line-up and performed flawlessly in the outfield as he hauled down one fly ball and in his one appearance at the plate went hitless. Gene's selection to the squad was greatly warranted as he wound up Terrace's second highest batter and turned in steady efforts all season. For Moro it marked his farewell to baseball for this year as he soon returns to the hockey wars in the Okanagan Sr. hockey league with the Ve non Canadians, Jim's value to the team this year was truly great as he played effectively in a pitcher - First Baseman capacity. His pitching record for the season was 6-5 but this was an injustice as many of his losses were hard--luck efforts. With any other club, it is pessible he could have won all his games (cont'd next column) as his 6 wins accounted for all but one of Terrace Bay's wins this season. The theory that a "pitcher never hits" was also dis- proved in Jim's case as he turned in a respectable .317 batting average and even belted a homer. When not pitching, his defensive fielding was smooth and steady at first base. Further vindication of this is the fact that throughout the entire season Jim had but one fieldi ng error.
