Dissolve the coffee in the boiling water and cool. Beat egg whites with the cream of tartar until soft peaks form. Add 3 cup sugar gradually and beat until very stiff (do not underbeat), Beat egg yolks well, Add 14 cups sugar gradually and heat until thick and-lemon-colored. Sift flour, baking .powder and salt together three times. Stir these dry ingredients into the egg~yolk mixture with the pecans, Fold in the egg- white mixture, one quarter at a time. After last addition, fold only until blended. Bake in a 10-inch tube pan at 350 degrees F. fer 60 to 70.minutes, Invert and cool at least one hour, Frost with Coffee Icing, Cream 2 tablespoons butter. Blend in 2 cups sifted icing sugar and 13 teaspoons instant coffee, Add undiluted evaporated milk until of a spready consistency. "Tepe ea eel A round the rae wn A welcome is extended to Mrs. Sidney Naylor who, with daughters Sheelagh, 10, and €arol Jean 6, have arrived from Liverpool, England to make their home at 115 Laurier avenue. They were accompanied by Mrs. Naylor's Father and Mother, Mr. and Mrs. H. Corbett, aiso of Liverpool. Mr. Naylor met them in Montreal as they arrived aboard the Empress of Britain, Visiting with Ann Papousek for the past month was her sister, Mrs. Helen Foulis with baby daughter Andrea of Toronto, and also George Holancin who visited with his sisters -- enroute home from Elliott Lake to Holland Marsh, Ontario. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Ward of Fort William visited their daughter Elva McMillan and family for a few days last week, Mrs. J. Yates held a party at her home Saturday afternoon, May 3rd to celebrate the eighth birthday of her daughter Betty. Fourteen children attended and played bingo and various games, enjoyed records and left for home with their baskets of favors after a hearty birthday lunch. Mrs. Yates' Mother, Mrs. J. Lawrence of Schreiber, and her sister, Mrs. J. Fisher assisted Kay and Bill Louk were happy to bring their son Michael home last weekend from the Mayo Clinic -in Kochester, a much happier and healthier little fellow. Mrs. Lucille Diduch was the guest of honour at a Baby Shower last Thursday evening, May lst in the home of Mrs. Elaine Zwir with Mesdames Fat Diduch, Joyce Kousseau and Vicki Synishin sharing hostess honours. A basket of very beautiful gifts was. presented to Lucille, and the group played bingo and enjoyed a delicious lunch served by the four hostesses. Mrs. Helen Fedun had her brother and sister-in-law, Taul and Josie Huchulak with son David visit her for the weekend enroute to Kenora for their holidays from their home in Toronto. Mr. Percy McCredie left last week for his home in Norway Bay, Quebec. Mr. McCredie spent the winter at the home of his neice, Mrs. Vivian Hanna and family. {cont'd next page)
