TERRACE BAY PROMINENT IN DISTRICT NEWS The town of Terrace Bay has become quite prominent in the news recently through the various efforts and activities of its people. In Minor Hockey the Terrace Bay Midget team have won the North Shore Hockey Championship and now go on to play for the Thunder Bay title. The Terrace Bay PeeWee hockey team is within one game of winning the North Shore title. In Basketball last Saturday the Terrace Bay High School girls' team for the second consecutive year won the North Shore Basketball Championship. At the recent Lakehead Music Festival the Ladies Choir placed second in their competition and received some very complim- entary remarks from the Adjudicator. At the present time, the Terrace Bay Superiors have a two game advantage in the Intermediate N.S.H.L. finals with Red Rock. Their next game is on Thursday night, March 13, in Red Rock. Then again on Saturday night in Red Rock. In Curling the Terrace Bay Ladies won the Northwestern Ontario Championship and were runners up for Provincial honours. From a Fire Prevention standpoint in Ontario, Terrace Bay in competition within the National Fire Protection Association placed second in Ontario and received Honorable Mention for all of Canada!!! Seventy local skaters, under the direction of Mrs. Ivy Pattison, have developed ten novel and intricate numbers. Dressed in colorful costumes on decorated ice under a spotlight of chang- ing colors the movements of the ¥. "Peanuts" (our junior skaters) through to the solo numbers by our own three Bronze Medallists will prove to be artistic and entertaining. For diversion, two professional skaters, Pat Hanley and Allan McLean, from the Lakehead will present a comdey team act. Pat and Allan have entertained here before and are worth seeing. Again for variety, Mr. Chris McPhail of the Terrace Bay Pipe Band will play the accompaniment for one of the Scotch numbers - "The Bonnie Highlander", Allin all the Frolics 'is the type of program that will be most pleas-- ing and entertaining to all.
