At this same time, through her husband, she came to know - and hate - the rising Nazis. She was forced to play hostess to Goebbels and Goering, but, without her husband's knowledge, Dr. Laiioe became one of the founders of the anti-Nazi German Women's Pacifist Party. Soon she broke with her 'husband and became a fugitive with a price on her head, until she married an American and came to the United States.
