All Protestants are to meet at 10:45 a.m. in the Community Church basement and members of St. Martin's are to meet at 7 pem in St. Martin's te Pasenent as CENOTAPH MEMORTAL At a meeting of the Cenotaph Committee held recently, with Mr. Alf. Barbini in attendance, complete and final plans were drawn up which assure immediate start on the erection of the Cenotaph. Al Harrison is putting the finishing touches to the blueprints for the foundation itself, which willbe an 8! x 8! x 8" cone * crete slab resting on five 12" concrete -- piers encased in transite pipe. This will be put in at ground level and actual construe ction of this foundation slab will get under- we early in July. Bill Baillie has volunteered to To mahal ans the entire job. (Bear-this in Iind all ex-veterans, particularly, as much 'more volunteer labour will be required). - In the meantime Alf, Barbini will pro- ceed with the Cenotaph cutting and construc- tion. As previously announced this will be -in the form of a traditional Flanders Cross mounted on two symmetrical bases of 12m thickness. Stone -to be used is Indiana Lime- stone and:treated with a weather-resistant Silicone treatment. A Sword in Gold Leaf will be etched into the tree of the Cross. A Bronze Plaque, 10" x 20" will be fitted into the: front upper base of the Cenotaph, which will be suitably inscribed, (cont'd on-page 8)
