LIBRARY REVIEW "Home Before Dark" - Eileen Bassing This novel begins where The Snake Pit left off. It illuminates the struggle of a vital young woman to regain her place in a world of normal people after release from a mental hospital. When Charlotte Brown returned to her husband, her family and the prim college _community where they lived, she was shocked to find her newly gained 'freédom a' fraud, In her pleasant New England home she remain- ed as much a captive as formerly she had been behind locked doors... Arnold, her husband, was an ambitious professor, weary of his obligation to an ailing wife. Her relatives were accustomed to running her household and her husband, : Charlotte ° finally makes one last desperate attempt to come back from her unreal world with absolutely no help from her family.
