Locally we understand that there will not be a Brotherhood Week Banquet as there has been in former years, but that the various Clubs and organizations will observe Broth- erhood Week within their own organization and invite representatives of other organ- izaticns to attend their meeting in observance of this special week, The following letter from Leslie M, Frost, Prime Minister of Ontario, will indicate that Brotherhood Week has the support of the leading men in Canada, "It is always a great pleasure for me to associate with the Canadian Council of Christians and Jews in inviting our people to observe Brotherhood Week, to be observed the week of February 17th to 24th, (cont'd, page 10) February 14, 1957 THRRACH BAY LADIES NORTHWESTERN CURLING CRAMPS. a Spivak The women's Northwestern Ontario curling championships ended on an upset note Tuesday at the Port Arthur Curling Club with Peggy Welling's Terrace Bay rink finally carrying off the district title after an extra-game playoff in which they soundly trounced the Port Arthur Hill City squad skipped by Mrs. Paterson 17-10. In the process, Terrace Bay received a vital assist on the final regular draw in the afternoon from Mrs. Lund's Rainy River quartet who verformed the major upset of the playoff by halting the Hill City's undefeated march 10-9 after a rousing duel. Up to that time the Hill City four swept aside their opposition with three lopsided victories, but when Terrace Bay defeated Sioux Lookout 17-8 en the same draw for their third win in four starts, it left Terrace Bay and Port Arthur tied with identical 3-1 records, thus requiring an extra game between the two rivals to decide the title. In the playoff game Hill City took a 5-0 lead in the first two ends but Terrace Bay came back with four in the third. Port Arthur counted two in the fourth but Terrace Bay scored 10 in the next four ends to take a lead which proved too much for the Port Arthur squad to overcome. Port Arthur had cut out this deficit to four points at the com pletion of the 10th end, but when Terrace Bay scored three times on the 11th for a seven-point margin coming home, the Hill City conceded the game and the champion- ship.
