SUPERIORS REIGN SUPERIOR Terrace Bay got back in the winning groove during the past week sweeping past three different opponents on their home ice, and then journeying to Schreiber last night to pick up their fourth consecutive victory, With the exception of Bobby Weaver, every player dressed for these games got into the scoring act, with the hot line of Maurice Osmar, Marv. Osmar and Whalen getting the lion's share of the points,. The men-dressed in blue rapped in 38 goals, and further padded their scoring totals by being credited with 47 assists during the three game home stand, The 4 victories put the Superiors right back into the fight for first place and they can narrow the gap some more tonight when they square off against Marathon in the local arena at 8,00 P.M, Marathon will. provide much tougher opposition than any of the three teams Terrace Bay whipped during the past week, The Mercuries are big, rugged, and so far 'this season, riding along in 'first place -and undefeated to boot, We can think of no better time or place to hang loss number one on them, so let's have a good crowd on hand to.watch these two rivals face off once again, SUPERIORS TAME COLTS U-2 The Schreiber Colts came to town last Thursday night hoping for an upset victory over the local six, The Superiors were in no mood to be upset, however, as they 'peppered Gavin, the Colt's goalie with 72 shots while romping to an easy 14-2 win, Gavin played a great game for Schreiber, kicking out 58 shots, but he had no help whatsoever, Time and time again. he found himself face to face with 2 or 3 Superiors, and those kind of odds just don't pay off, He was one weary, but dead game player when that final bell rang. (cont'd, page 7) Page 6 THIS.N-THAT Terrace Bay's sharpshooters had -them- selves quite a time during the Superiors'! last three home games. Scoring won't be so easy tonight against Marathon, but we feel the local boys have at least 5 goals in their systems, and that should be good enough to win over the league leading Mereuries. The big line of Whalen, Maurice and Marvin Osmar had things pretty much their own way against last week's competition scoring almost at will. These three are really flying and when they are right, they're very tough to stop, In the last three home games, Whalen has scored 9 goals along with 14 assists, Maurice Osmar has netted 8 goals and 8 assists, while Marvin Osmar has chipped in with 5 goals and 8 assists, A pretty fair scoring line I'd say} 7 husk Its about time we tipped our hats to defencemen Dave Desrosiers and Ray Hansen. With Cy Brassard sick, Jack Lang on holiday and Ken Ward out of the line up due toa shoulder injury, Hansen and Desrosiers have had to carry almost the entire def- ensive load for the Superiors. Hansen has been a rock on defence all season, and while he never looks for trouble, he doesn't back away from it 'either, He always does his job well, and Sunday against Geraldton he proved once again the high caliber player that he} isi In the third period he caught a puck just below the eye and had to be taken to the dressing room, Four stitches repaired the damage, and he was right back on the ice protecting our net. A player like that is hard to beat. As for dependable Dave Desrosiers, not much has to be said, He usually * Spends his playing time getting the puck and passing it on to one of the forwards.
