Telegrams of good wishes were received from Mrs. Pearl Bell, Grand Secretary, Mrs. Doris Abbott, Worthy Matron Argyle Chapter No, 10, and Mrs, Clara Ridge, Past uatron, Greengables Chapter Fort William, Delicious refreshments were served from a lace covered table cloth centred with a silver bowl of red roses and flanked by red tapers, convened by Alice Farrow, Past Matron and the outgoing officers, Preceeding the meeting thirty-five officers. and members sat down to a lovely banquet held in Hotel Terrace, The head table was adorned with a bowl of red roses and white tapers, while rose buds in vases were placed on the side tables, Following the regular meeting on December 10th a Christmas party will be held in the large meeting room in the Recreation Centre for members, nba: and escorts. 0-0-0 HOME AND SCHOOL ASSOCIATION Mr. Malcolm Craig welcomed the many members and friends who turned out to the Terrace Bay Home and School Association meeting Monday evening, November 19th filling the classroom to overflowing. Many new items were. presented and attended to during the course of the meeting. _ The School Vision screening test will be here in approximately three weeks time, it was announced, A letter from Mrs. Foulds requesting to:know if delegates would attend a Regional Confer- ence in the Lakehead in January or February was discussed and decided that this Association would likely send two or three delegates. It was further decided to hold the December meeting in place of the May meeting this season, and to hold the Annual meeting in April. The December meeting will be one week ahead of schedule. A request was made to write Mr, Linkewich a letter regarding Saturday afternoon shows for children, A thorough ee of the parents, and theatre managements! problems followed and a vote passed to write such a letter and further (cont'd next colum) NOTICE TO HOME & SCHCOL ASSOC. Cont'd page 5 it is the hope of this organization to form part of a group to meet with the theatre management. Mrs, Mi. McCausland, Mr. J. Kelty and Mr, R, Kenney were appointed as a steering committee for this project. Another skate exchange will be sponsored by the Home and School on November 23rd in the large meeting room of the Recreation Centre from 8,30 to 9,30 Mrs. Helmink announced, The speaker for the evening, Rev. Father E, C. Gallagher was introduced by Mr. Dave Locking who summed up Father Gallagher's background, training and experience which qualified him to speak so eloquently on his subject. Father Gallagher's address on "Juvenile Delinguency" had previously been given to the local Kiwanis Club, and was indeed an inspiring lesson to parents to face the responsibility of bringing up their own children, The church, school and recreation facilities are merely auxiliaries to assist the parents, not meant to take their place, Father Gallagher's address will be printed in full and distributed throughout Terrace Bay shortly. Mr. Cliff Knauff thanked Father Gallagher for his very timely and spiritual guidance on this subject, A social hour and tee followed the meeting, the tea convened by Mrs, Helen Brooks and her committee, o-0-o HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY N&ws A successful meeting of the Society was held last Friday night. Films and Slides were shown by Mr. J. Anderson and Mr. A. Farrow.
