NOTES REFEREES, LINESMEN REQUIRED Attending the Executive Committee meeting of the North Shore Hockey League held last Sunday in Schreiber were Governors R, R, Faust and P, E, Mazza, Alternate Governor M, D, Campbell and Delegates J, C. Wig and J. i. Thomas, Resulting from this lengthy meeting the following items were established: 1, The League will be composed of six teams - Marathon, Terrace Bay, Schreibe~ Nipigon, Red.Rock and Geraldton, 2+ It is expected that the regular schedule will get underway about December 15th. No doubt when further locales introduce artificial ice in the future, the schedule could start somewhat earlier, 3. The proposed schedule is pre- sently being prepared, and it is expected that each team will play 15 games at home and 15 games away from home, This increase of games over' last season is due to the entry of the Red Rock team, 4, Minimum admission prices as has been the policy of the NSHL in the past will again prevail this coming season, 5. Two Gruen automatic wrist watches valued at $75,00 cach were accepted as a donation to the League from the C.R, Strachan Jewellers Ltd, of Fort William, In the past these awards were made to the Leading Scorer and the Most Sports- manlike Player, This pdicy is now changed in that each Governor is to cast his votes to the categories he wishes to sce these watches awarded in a sealed envelope, Tne awards will remain secretive until the termination of theo regular schedule at which time the twelve sealed envelopes will be opened and the categories and winners will be publicly announced, 6. Member Club!s shares of the In- surance Fund amounted to approxinately $46.80 per team. Recause of the increase (Cont. ™ revt 791.) N.S.H.L. NOTES (Cont.) of insurance rates, the League has decided to grant each club $125.00 towards the insuring of their players. 7. Regarding the controversy of the Jas, A. Therrien Trophy, trustees G, Linklater of White River, W. W. Wilkes _ of Schreiber and W. C. Borsum of Appleton unanimously agreed to award this Trophy to League Leadership on completion of the regular schedule, By majority vote, the Executive Committee endorsed the wishes of the Trustees, 8. Hockey Rule Books were released to Member Clubs by Frank Walters, Vice- President of the T,B,A.H.A. Sufficient numbers were issued to cover all players, and since a number of new rules have been introduced, these rule books should be seriously studied by all concerned. 9. The Annual meeting is now ad- vanced to be held prior to the Annual Mcoting of the T,B.A.H.A. which takes place on the third Monday of April. 10. If possible, it is suggested to introduce one referee and two linesmen to officiate at each game, Though fees have not been established as yet on this policy of officiating, it is expected that during the schedule the referee will be paid 930,00 and the linesmen $7.00 each, Should the League carry on as in the past with two referees, the fee will be $10,00 cach. Referees and linesmen shall be in- sured and the costs shall be borne by the Teague, ; Again an appeal is coming your way that the League is in urgent need of referees and linesmen, Please submit written application: to R. R. Faust, P. E, Mazza or M. D. Campbell before Nov, 21st. Should you require further information such as a Referees! School or assistance before you are able to decide present your case to any of the aforementioned and they shall endeavour to case your pro- blems.
