L SW te y= 3 pd eae Seles S = Q L on : ' 4 N RECIPE OF THE WEEK HOT CROSS BUNS 2 cakes fresh or 2 packages granular yeast Lf? cup sugar 2/3 cup milk, scalded 3.1/2 cups enriched flour 1/2 cup melted: shortening 3/h teaspoon salt 3 eggs 2/3 cup currants 1/2. teaspoon cinnamon Soften yeast and dissolve sugar in milk cooled to lukewarm, Add 1 cup flour and beat. Add shortening, salt, eggs, and remaining flour, Beat until light about 3 minutes, Cover and let rise till double, about: 1 hour, Add currants and cinnamon and mix well, Roll 1/2 inch thick on lightly floured surface. Cut rounds with 2-1/2 inch cutter. .Shape into buns, Place on greased baking sheet, Cover and let rise till double, Cut cross in each bun with scissors. Brush with slightly beaten egg white. Bake in moderate oven (350°) 12 to 15 minutes, To the remaining egg white add confectioners! sugar (about | 3/ cup) to make a frosting. With a pastry tube make a cross on each bun, Makes about 2 dozen. 9-0-0 AROUND THE TOWN Funeral services for George Terrance Cavanaugh, who died Tuesday evening, September 25th in a car accident were held Friday morning September 28th at nine in St. Martin's Roman Catholic Church, Reverend F, P. Divine, cousin of the deceased from North Bay, chanted the Requiem High Mass, assisted by Reverend E, A, Gallagher of Terrace Bay, Altar Boys were Christopher and Peter Cavanaugh, nephews of the deceased, - Pallbearers were: Jim Sweet, Gordon (Cont. on next col,) 4 Page 4 AROUND THE TOWN (Cont.) Savoy, Tim Bond, Bill Marsh, Richard Marcella, Ray Stachiw and interment was in St. Martin's Cemetery, Terrace Bay. Reverend Divine said the prayers at the graveside, - Terrace Bay, as a Community, turned out to bid farewell to Terry, a youth well-known for his enthusiasm for sports. Terry played the season of 1954-55 with the Fort William Hurricanes, and several seasons with the Terrace. Virginie Galvin was in Port Arthur last week visiting with her parents, lr. and irs, Gordon Brown, On her return home, Mrs, Galvin entertained Friday to celebrate the third birthday of her son Gordon. Six youngsters enjoyed a good time during the afternoon, especially the luncheon and favourse Mr, and Mrs, Les Fodin of Kapuskasing were visitors of Mrs. Fodin's brother and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Brown last week. Miss Audrey Wedley of Winnipeg spent the Thanksgiving weekend visiting her sister, Gertrude Cotton and family.
