Volume 6, No. 37 FIVE LONGLAC EMPLOYEES TO LEAVE FOR MEXICO A request from the Kimberly-Clark Corporation was recently received at Terrace Bay to send five pulp mill employees to the bleached sulphate mill in Mexico as trainers, The following are going to Mexico for about six weeks: Jim Bradley Tour Foreman; Roger Beaulieu, Machine Tender; David Nelson, Digester Cook; Brones Yonin, Caustic Operator; and Donald Whitley, Bleachery Operator, A similar group of trainers is going to the Mexican mill from the Coosa River Newsprint Company at Coosa Pines, Alabama, The Terrace Bay team will be working with Thor Olsen in Mexico, Thor, another pulp mill foreman, went to Mexico on August 19th, Other former LongLac employees working there in an advisory capacity are Gordon Rowlandson, Al Lindskoog and Stewart Neuville, The bleached sulphate mill is located about sixty miles from Chihuahua, Mexico, The Kimberly-Clark Corporation have a management contract to operate the mill and the emphasis is being placed on increasing pulp production to the design capacity of the mill, The Terrace Bay team will be leaving for Mexico as soon as passports are obtained for them, It no doubt will be an exciting experience for them and we will look forward to a report about Mexico when they return. 0-0-0 THE GREAT MORTON TO APPEAR IN TERRACE BAY. After many years of knocking at the door Salary finally came through to win the Softball championship. The finals were completed last weekend with games played Saturday and Sunday after- noons, Salary went into the weekend games leading Shift #3 two games to one. The Saturday afternoon game went to Shift #3 by a score of 6-3 tieing up the series at two games apiece, Sundays game was a do or die affair for both teams. Salary started off with four runs in the first half of the first inning coming back in the second with four more, That was just about the ball game, Final score Salary-ll, Shift #3-3. Shift #3 tried valiantly throughout but the early runs piled up by Salary looked bigger and bigger as the game progressed. For Salary who were the underdogs through out the playoffs, it was a fine victory. With the exception of one year Salary has always had a team in the playoffs even though it took eight years before they could win a championship, At this time we wish to express our thanks to the loyal fans who attended the games throughout the year and for their contribut- ions which made the games possible.
