RECREATION FLYER (Cont, ) MARATHON SWIM MEET RESULTS has been made, judging by our results and watching these boys and girls competing. We are hoping that this swim meet 'will grow larger each year and that we can' compete and be true sportsmen | regardless: of whether we win or Lose. ROLLER SKATING Remember, you can enjoy piepete roller skating every Thursday night from 7:30 until 10:30 p.m. in the Terrace Bay Arena, Get your gang together and come out, LACROSSE. ~~ There will be no practise this Friday as the Arena is booked for the evening. Remember - Monday night at 7:00 for our next practise. Get in shape for hockey now, LITTLE LEAGUE BASEBALL Since there have been such poor turn- outs for our scheduled Little League games, we shall: discontinue any' games for two weeks,and then go into our play-offs on Saturday, September 1st, at 10:00 a.m, At this time, each team will draw to see whom they play first, then the two winners of these games will play a sudden-death game for the championship, PLAYGROUND PATTER On Thursday evening, the Father and Son softball game turned out to be quite a successful event despite the shortage of fathers, The boys gave the big hitters a rough time but were finally defeated 23-17, Schock and Pineault were high scorers for oe fathers, while Kennedy, Falzetta and Wood brought in many runs for the boys. Friday morring was perfect for the little Garden Parade, Following the judging of the costumes, everyone went up to the ball field where various races were held and ribbons given out for prizes, There was a good turn- out at the beach in the afternoon. The Juniors had a great time in the craft room on Monday, where they produced large posters of painted pictures. Most of the kiddies have quite modern ideas of painting, Swimming tests were held Monday afternnon, Mr. R. Shirriff was the examiner, (Cont, on next col.) They are making large murals for the craft display later on. In the afternoon some Seniors and Intermediates practised in the gym for the future amateur show, NOTICE - Don't forget the Track and Field Event on Friday. Everyone is to bring a lunch, WORKSHOP CAMP ON TEENAGE ACTIVITIES A workshop camp on teenage activ.icu1es will be held at the Duncan Memorial Camp, Loon Lake, from August 26th to September lst, 1956, under the sponsor ship of the Community Programmes Branch, Ontario Department of Eduwation. |. Campers will be counsellors and teenagers from teenage organizations in Northwestern Ontario, They will represent church, community centre, teen towns, and junior farmer organizations. Square dancing, programme planning, group discussion, and community singing are some of the skill subjects to be included, ' Portions of the programme will be developed from the problems presented by the camp delegates, The purpose, of the camp is to help teenagers and counsellors of teenage groups acquire skills and insight which are helpful in working with young people.
